Of course airlines and Air Wisconsin can downgrade, but can they reduce your pay with the downgrade until October 1st? That is the question that I don't see as clear as everyone else.
When they request the money to the government for payroll, I am guessing they didn't ask for less having into account that they were expecting so many captains to downgrade and get paid less.

For what it is worth, United ALPA has said that the unions and airlines did have a hand in this bill and that a company can downgrade and the published rates for the new seat apply. They can reassign you to a lower paid position, but they can’t open up the contract and lower the rates for those positions. People are getting hung up on income, when the bill only protects the rates. From an employee viewpoint we look at them as the same thing, but from a legal viewpoint they are very different.

Has anyone tried to run the napkin math on how many pilots the company will need come October if passenger loads stay pretty linear in growth? What seniority number and below with get furloughed?

My guess would be equal to the amount of downgrades.

if we keep the same growth I would guess everyone junior to about 340-350 will be furloughed, if it stays where it’s at maybe around 275

July prelim schedule showing some signs of life. Nothing spectacular but it looks like June may have been rock bottom.

yeah, a full extra block hr average daily credit, plus adding cities back, I don’t think it’s enough to cancel the downgrades, but at least it’s something.

Something doesn’t seem right about the latest vacancy results.... again.

There’s guys with 27xxx numbers getting displaced from ORD FO to MKE FO and meanwhile there are 28xxx guys going from ORD and MKE RSV FO to an ORD line holder.
Unless all those guys bid for mke instead of ord suddenly it doesn’t make sense.

If you are getting displaced take a look at other seniority numbers and inquire with your union reps.
