How is it going out there?

it sucks from a pilot perspective, no doubt, but what would you have them do? Management’s job is to set up the company for long term viability. The fact remains that’s it’s cheaper to pay open time / JM pay vs benefits & MMG for the 138 furloughed pilots. I’m not saying it’s right, absolutely it’s not, but from a purely business perspective, what would you have them do?

You’re saying after almost a decade of printing money with paid off -200’s, dragging their feet on a contract for over a decade while pocketing the cost savings there, and all the other things they do to save every penny, that they can’t afford to staff for the amount of flying we have without still making a profit? After months of “our performance is vital for securing extra flying”, they’re cutting staffing to the point where a weather event, sick call, or denied junior man is going to tank our numbers.

What new airframes ?
Everyone got their panties wet thinking we were getting g7 700s. That’s not going to happen. G7 is adding flying and staying in the game .
The entire 700 thing is a joke , not happening now .
Back to the usual old tired worm out, breakdown at out stations beat up 200s.
The more I fly that thing the more I don’t like it . It’s a pos .But hey, atleast we have a job I guess, for now anyways.
The 700s were going to be the saving grace for this Co but now who knows what will happen.

I’m not saying anything, I don’t have eyes into the companies private books, so who knows what money is there. Please don’t misread my statement as uncaring. I’m just pointing out that if I were to put myself in AWAC’s shoes, if I can stock even more cash away by furloughing, it makes sense from a business perspective. It’s not right, and will bite us as a pilot group in the ass when we get rode hard and put away wet, I’m just saying I can see what they’re doing is all.

After how badly we all got screwed when things were good, I find it hard to believe the company cares about anything besides extracting every last dime out of the place even if it ends up killing the golden goose long term. Plenty of other regionals have actively mitigated furloughs, we can’t even staff the flying we have for next month.

Pilot group voted on the LOA. Like 900 to 150 in favor of reduced guarantee for no furloughs.

FPLD. Furloughs are part of the contract. Have a plan B. Every downturn shouldn’t be an excuse to gut the contract to delay a few furloughs. I applaud ARW’s MEC for standing strong against concessions. The important thing is to make sure the job is worth coming back to after a furlough.
