July 19 Merger Ledger E-Mail:
Fellow Pilots:
Our previous Merger Ledger, at the conclusion of the arbitration hearing in May, summarized the seniority list integration process accomplished to that date. We mentioned that the next phase of the arbitration process is the submission of post-hearing briefs and that changes to the timelines specified in the TPA may be adjusted by mutual consent of both Merger Committees.
Your Alaska Merger Committee, and the VRD Merger Committee, have agreed to a two-week extension, past the original July 13 date, to submit post-hearing briefs. This extension was at the request of your Alaska Merger Committee due to workload constraints at our Counsel Bredhoff & Kaiser.
The Arbitration Board has acknowledged the extension for the submission of the post-hearing briefs. Extensions to post-hearing brief submissions are common in this process. Mr. Fred Horowitz, the Arbitration Board Chairman, has indicated that the Board will target an Award date of October 11. No further adjustments are anticipated. The primary concern is that the committees, representatives, and the Board have ample time to prepare the final briefs, and the Award.
Thank you for your patience in an important process that greatly affects the careers of the merged pilot group.
