Apparently some of these guys are too young to remember the Eastern war cry..."Full pay to the last day!" Look where that got them.

Oh yeah...the downfall of eastern was due solely to the pilots’ refusal to take concessions. Lol.

Exactly..... apples vs oranges. Everything you need to know about the downfall of Eastern Airlines can be learned by watching the movie “Wallstreet”

Remember when Kasher took between 20-30% of the pilot pay and then there were no furloughs because of it? Yeah, me neither. Guys still hit the streets not long after that massive pay cut because pay cuts don’t save companies or prevent furloughs.

A bit of history: 35+% pay cut for some year groups. ALPA national jammed down a TA shortly thereafter and 80+% of the pilot group voted it down. 3 years later, the company furloughed pilots even though they were running beyond lean. Some of the former union officers and other wh***s picked up premium trips while tripping over each other. A few years after brining the fuloughees back, the company admitted furlough was unnecessary and apologized for Kasher. The next two TAs passed by 80+% and 65+% respectively, which were both considered as turds and most people claimed to have voted No. The theme with this company is that they apologize after kicking us in the nuts while we are down.
Eastern, Pan Am, Braniff, etc. and other airlines that are doomed to repeat history have nothing to do with labor costs. It was and always will be a direct result of poor management of funds and assets.....basically, lack of vision, selfishness and insatiable greed. The airlines were thriving before COVID-19 only because they were just riding the wave. Lining up their pockets through stock buy backs and not planning for the rainy day should not be yet another burden on labor. Max pay to the last day!

Lorenzo kept Eastern afloat with scabs until it went tits up. Hmmm, why didn't Eastern thrive since the scabs were basically working for free? Tell me one airline that was saved by labor group(s) taking a pay cut. Anyone with a 1/4 brain can figure this one out.

I’ve got my FUPM bracelet from another airline around here somewhere. I’m good burning this one down too.

Straight from your Alaska MEC:

There have been a number of reports of well-meaning pilots offering solutions to management about a variety of issues arising from the effects of COVID-19—in some cases solutions beyond even what the Company has indicated it needs. It may seem counter intuitive but these actions actually make it more difficult for your MEC and Negotiating Committee to bargain in a way that helps and protects the pilot group. Public comments with ideas about solving problems, whether made directly to management or in some other forum like a web board, hinder your Negotiating Committee's ability to make the changes needed. Please feel free to continue communicating the problems you are experiencing with management but solutions should be communicated to your block reps so that we are in the strongest position to advocate on your behalf.
