At other airlines there are a limited number of paid no-fly lines, so they go senior.

If you can afford it and wanted to just go spend the summer in your mountain cabin, maybe the unpaid leave would be the way to do that. Or if you have another business that needs attention. There's reasons.

Thanks. I was thinking that it was around 3050. Interesting to see how many incentive vs VLOA the company offers.

In this environment, I think VLOA are pretty much unlimited. Bu there won't be many takers, at any airline, if you're guaranteed pretty much full pay to Oct 01. Commuters will go for incentive lines. I think reserve will go senior-ish since there will be a lot of them so your odds of getting called are low. The actually flying may be done by people too junior to get a line that pays them to not fly much or at all.

Yes, they won't be carrying any extra staff on Oct 01, unless they see a near-term demand ramp-up.

probably 2 different furlough bids

275 downgrades
375 furloughs would be the likely number. The other numbers are possible though
Downgrades aren’t quick if you are displaced out of the left seat of one fleet into the left seat of another. Or downgraded from one fleet to the next. Would take a month or so. Not sure how your bids work though. For someone like Jb if a bus captain is “downgraded” they could potentially still end up in a training event for left seat Embraer.

Company wants to use this time to train. They don’t want pilots just sitting around for 6 months. Heard single fleet this year maybe early 2021... I don’t know if that is really possible though.

Furlough line is April 2018
downgrade 1250-1300

At that line the Left seat 320 to 737 will be virtually nonexistent.

Interesting, by canceling the May 1 bid and sending a number of folks out of the 737 (some of whom were already on or waiting for OE) and back to the airbus to only then park them and have to retrain them on the 737 again doesn’t seem to be overly cost effective.

They looked at it and most of the training was done for folks that will not be able to hold Captain in the seat when the dust settles or those who will not have a seat sadly.

Using FEB20 system seniority list and APR20 bid eligible lists:

1. Displacing to 1250 system seniority would be 367 downgrades: 147 AB/220 737.
2. Displacing to 1300 system seniority would be 334 downgrades: 122 AB/212 737.

YMMV.

Cheers - Rob.
