I keep hearing up to 50 Amazon widebodies, amazing growth potential at CVG and SBD. I just don’t trust Amazon. This isn’t our own flag cargo ops. It’s at the whim of whatever cutthroat decisions Amazon decides. In the world of Mesa and ATSG, I don’t know that if AS can provide a long term cost-competitive contract. I certainly wouldn’t put any weight to it going forward. Just my worthless 2 cents.

I remember a static vs dynamic fleet assumption argument in regards to VX vs AS. It’ll be interesting to see how it goes.

This is absurd. My financial wellbeing only was disclosed back in 2017 because the virgin crowd said if the SLI went the way I said it would, they would shut down the company and I would have to find a new job. I then disclosed, I would likely retire, as at that time my house was paid for and I had 5000k in equities and cash. They all laughed told jokes, whatever, it was an honest response. How did that SLI turn out by the way, yup I was right. Guess what maybe they tried to burn the house down but like everything else in the thirty’s lives, they were unsuccessful. From then on the thirty make fun of my supposed wealth, I just give them the honest answer. I think that makes them upset because many on here have figured out that the number is an honest one and has only gone up significantly over the last seven years. It’s an anonymous board, who cares what I write on an anonymous board, unless I’m right about almost everything I say.
The VX crowd hates me because I actually like Alaska Airlines, I always shoot down their crap, and over and over again I’m proven right. They burn from the inside because of this.

More proof that money can't buy class.

Did you see the reduction in seats for next fall. Didn’t someone tell you this was coming two months ago?

why would they downgrade people just to have to re upgrade them for summer of 25 flying.
paging people to do two full footprints. Doing the 40 hour EILs seems cheaper

I don’t believe downgrade training is anything close to a full training footprint, a few sims at most I think.

Senior captains love gloating about downgrades. See above post. It's just FUD. Don't worry about it.

Where is this reduction in seats posted or listed that you speak of?

We *might* provide a cost-competitive contract, if AS gets enough of that flying. Here's how it could go down...

AZ flying grows and we now have hundreds maybe pushing 1000 pilots doing that, many living in the base(s).

Then AZ or outside market factors puts the squeeze on for contract renewal, what's the union going to do? Allow all those pilots to get kicked to the curb, permanently or at least until pax growth attrition can re-employ them? Union politics could drive the MEC to do concessions in that scenario. More so than in an economic downturn, where you know the flying and the furloughs will come back in a few years.

HAL ALPA did it, due to economic pressures, are we that much better?

All that said, it's *possible* that AZ would like to have a large reliable operator, especially during the pilot shortage era, but that could always change down the road. Bezos isn't famous for his generosity.
