They added retirements in to get that total number…

Because money doesn’t grow on trees and there’s a certain cost associated with a new contract. Fair is a relative term, but if your own ALPA’s EFA team says this is a good deal and about what can be expected right now, then you take it. Remember that saying, “my union speaks for me.” Was that legit or just lip service for the 18%? Your EFA team aside, even the union put this out unanimously for a vote.

All the above. I started at VX at 27. If I was 27 today starting at Alaska, I’d be gone in a heartbeat to the big 3.

The attrition isn’t sustainable, and the solution will involve something Congress isn’t willing to do at the moment. Kill the 1500 hr and go the MPL route like in parts of Europe. 250-500 hrs straight to A320/B737 sims and then fly the line.

The big 3 even aren’t meeting their staffing goals, dudes are leaving class at delta because they really wanted UAL or FedEx, and vice versa… it’s a lovely mess.

So they have no accountability then? Has the thought crossed your mind that maybe, just maybe, they may have gotten this one wrong? But daddy EFA says we couldn’t do better, so we absolutely just have to believe it. You are such a painfully simple mind…no wonder you’re so easily mollified.

When you can’t continue to debate while becoming frustrated at a statement from outside your echo chamber, ad hominem attacks always drive your point home, forcing people to agree with you.

Delta has almost 5 times many pilots, common sense would tell you their’s would cost more….

They were starting from a better place.

And $7B/5 is more than $1B.

There’s maybe 1 or 2 that leave at best for another carrier and that’s in class sizes of 60 plus. Fact is the NC and MEC failed this pilot group big time. Many like myself saw this earlier this year and let our feet do the talking the rest of the NO voters are either too far in to leave or working on their exit game. This always has been and always will be the problem with Alaska they hire yes men who don’t understand what they’re worth and now you’ve got Spirit and Jetblue stuck having to compete with this garbage that Alaska voted in.
