I went to the veterans webpage and looked at the jobs available and it listed "First Officer” for the four bases of ALK. It was different from the “smart recruiter” webpage and asked a lot of the expected questions.

I am a veteran but I would think this process should be used for all pilots.

Alaska had planned to move from their own application process to something they called a "talent pool" using Smart Recruiters to filter all of the applications (and, to the chagrin of many, to try to direct applicants to Horizon). Somewhere along the line, they discovered that just wasn't working the way they thought it would, so they returned to their old in-house application process.

The answer to your question is to use the Alaska careers page. To the best of my knowledge, they aren't doing anything (nothing that will get you hired, anyway) with Smart Recruiters at this point. It can't hurt to do both, but it probably won't help.

The problem may not be Smart Recruiters per se. They may be fine for other things. The problem might well be HR professionals choosing the wrong tool for the job. A better move might have been to just jump on the bandwagon and join all of the other airlines using Airline Apps or Pilot Credentials, which you know is already working for the purpose of handling thousands of airline applications.

These are real questions that need answering depending on one's QOL goals.
None of those are relative.....One airline, one certificate, one seniority list.....There will be no "Virgin side" or "Alaska side"....Again, everyone hired after the merger was anounced is straight date of hire....Simple stuff....If Virgin hires and you are waiting on Alaska you are donating seniority......not good in the civilian world

.

Eventually we will all be one...eventually new hires after April 2016 will be integrated at DOH. Eventually we will all be inter-changeable...but that could realistically be 5 years from now. AS guys want to fence SEA...Management wants "type"locks...who knows if/what the fences will be.

Additionally, until we get a new JCBA the pay, benefits, and flying will be different. If you'd be a commuter to AS and VX you'd probably like VX's PBS system better.

I would definetly go to whomever calls you first, however i would have a first pick in the back of your head in the event of a tie.

Airline Apps and other recruiting sites cost money I do not have. There are only two major airlines using airlineapps and hopefully they drop it soon. Kudos to Alaska for NOT using airline apps.

Flyingak,
Was this a mass email to the pilot group or sent to you personally? Which base?
