Alaska is famous for bait and switch nonsense like that. I remember getting called and offered an interview at Horizon after applying at Alaska.

Oh btw, did everyone know that our contract negotiations are completely stalled and the company has filed for federal mediation?

Just like Delta did before COVID. Guess United will be done any day now. SWAPA has a taken the company to court a few times all ready. Looks like we finally got industry standard.

No one is getting a contract anytime soon.

Yep, like 6yrs ago I too was contacted by some 3rd party entity after applying with Alaskan asking if I'd consider a Horizon position while "waiting" for my Alaska app to be considered. Of course my app would not lose any standing if I said yes......

Is it bait and switch, or do you get a seniority number?

you do not.

they were trying to get people to go to Horizon. “Pathways” is not a true flow. Well, is there any real true flow? I meet plenty of pilots “flowing” to American who were surprised when the flow took 10 years.

Apparently for the FO Sim Instructor you do get a seniority #

Of course the bait and switch thing applies…

I had a guy ask for a jumpseat a couple years back. I said “Who do you fly for?” He said with a touch of arrogance “I’m an American flow-through”. Looking back, I wish I had thrown him off the airplane!

Sen# or not, it's not the job they filed an application for.

There's a reason most people don't do that kind of flying.
Not even necessary. With our (Atlas) COVID pay, our year 2 FOs are now making 225/hr for most Asia/Oceania flying.
