Once it starts, it will be a self-fulfilling prophecy as lazy, comfortable people starting getting pushed down into lower relative seniority with upgrade prospects dwindling into the indefinite future. That will light a fire under a lot of arses.

That's exactly how the sunny CBA went from dead last to not so bad overnight (their one base is low COL too).
Apples and pine boards…Nothing to do with each other..There is no amount of attrition that will change the behavior of this place and no merger coming to save this place….

Are you prepared to walk back these absolute statements? Because we're in unprecedented times, and you seem to give them almost superpower invincibility against reality.

Just my .02. Why would any qualified applicant come to Alaska? I can only think of one reason-PDX base. Alaska offers zero incentive and just a mediocre career. The BOD and upper management really screwed the pooch this time. BM says we will "over hire". I'd like to know from where? Majority of the pilots commute and Alaska's bases are located in some of the highest cost of living parts of this country. This place will shrink and hopefully be absorbed by a real airline run by management with a vision and a brain. It's looking more like Compass every day.

ever since the big 3 put interview metering to their regional partners’ pilots, AS has became a great place to do touch n go.
CPZ was way better in most sorts of ways than Alaskan Aiways.

It’s still quite competitive getting on with AS, more than most people think.

Don’t mistake my stance for any kind of support of the current or former management regimes. Counting on attrition and merger to win the war is like grabbing a case of ammo without ever checking that it is the correct caliber. It has become a battle cry with no foundation. This is not a real airline

Since we're all throwing our .02 around I'll deposit my .02.

There will be no contract before summer. The company will do just enough to keep us out of any cooling off period. The summer will be a complete disaster and nobody is going to buy us. Ever since I was hired there has always been a rumor that we would get bought. This fall the company will reinstate the stock dividend because you know "we have to protect the investors." The final kick to the nuts will be the large bonuses paid out to upper management for the difficult year that they persevered through.

Even though we are an airline and only have one reason for being in business (flying airplanes) the company will never look at us other than a problem to be managed and taken advantage of. It will not get better. The good news is I'll be taking 20 days off each month this summer via 3rd step because after more than 23 years at Alaska I still can't hold a summer vacation.

Best of luck to us.

Paying my respect; RIP Compass.

I beg to differ. 2-3 hours of "hey, want to get to know you" interview followed by a class date offer is hardly an adequate process. Alaska might as well have a billboard that says, "737 or Airbus type on us!".
