How long is it taking to hold LAX base as a new hire and what about holding a line? What's reserve like in LAX? Is it all short call? Do you still cover multiple airports?

Not LA-based, but two in my class from last summer got it--why they want to I will never understand!

It looks like there are LA slots each class, and if you don't get it in training, probably only a couple of months.

Is ANC available to new hires? What does a typical month look like for ANC based relatively low senority? Thanks

Most of the new hire slots are in ANC. F15Cricket got it out of the box and held a line right away.

The typical scenario is that almost everyone originally gets assigned ANC and unless they live up there, they all bid out to SEA, PDX or LAX ASAP. That leaves open slots in ANC for the new hires.

If you want to go to ANC, especially if you live up there, you'll get senior FAST. There are always 25-30 pilots at the top of both the F/O and Capt list who live there, but you will move into the midrange bid holding positions quickly.

jig, check your PMs.

Just as an FYI it's probably available but each class is given choices based upon what's needed that week. For example, a January class all got SEA. But as was mentioned, anything could be held within months.

Has anyone heard of anyone receiving the nod for a job from AS without a bachelor degree?

I've got an A.S. degree and I'm slightly more than half way done with my bachelor degree.

Thanks for the info.

Haven't heard of this happening in a long time. That's not to say it hasn't happened, I can't be 100% certain. However the last few times they have had an app window, it won't let you continue the process if you don't check the "I have a 4-year degree from an accredited college/university" box. Education is a major factor in their process.
