You do have interesting points (but unless you are in upper management, then they are assumptions). If correct, then we all need to run for cover.

However, I don't believe the sky is falling. This company has a long history of poor daily performance and above average profitability. I don't see that changing much (outside of a merger or Maury departing).

This isn't my first rodeo either. And my experience has been that the worker bees are the last to know (good or bad). It's not until you see the press release that you know the company is furloughing, merging, or buying a large number of airplanes.

I personally don't like the hotel idea, but I'm just a pilot. What do I know about diversifying a multi billion dollar company? This whole industry is crap shoot. Any one of the airlines could be the next to furlough in the next recession. If you're unhappy, then leave. As for me, I like it here and will stay. I'll also try to make this a better place to work while I'm here.

The stock drops and they start buying back to pump it up which burns through cash. Very high debt load and uncertain credit streams. Management stops direct communication with the employees and hides behind HR and PR personnel. Cute slogans graphs and unrealistic profit sharing goals pop up to keep employees motivated and working hard in the short term. Pretty soon they stop stocking parts and deferrals pile up. Facilities get realigned. Key people bail. It's all been done before, and the signs are here already.

The company’s financials tell a different story though. We still have exceptional profit margins even though management is diversifying the company profile. I understand the great displeasure from the pilot group regarding the company not investing more in the airline. To say that the sky is falling is premature, IMO.

Could the airline portion be divested? Sure. Again, that would not make much sense if you reviewed the investor calls and presentations. The airline is an integral part of the resort/hotel and G4ce (sp?) strategic business plans. They all go hand-in-hand.

The company is going into uncharted waters with the strategy they want to utilize with these ventures. If it is successful, MG will be hailed as a business genius. If it all goes South, we will be another cautionary tale of an airline venturing too far off the traditional bread and butter aircraft lift model.

I can't think of any airline in history that has been successful going outside their core competency and running hotels, although there are several examples of how that doesn't work out well. It's already evident that things are not going according to plan, since the original plan was to sell condos, and the construction cost would be buyer funded.

The best hope for G4 pilots is the airline business is spun off and sold, I think any airline besides Frontier would be good at this point. In anycase, I think you will see a decent number of people leave to other LCCs and Mid-majors next year that nobody would have considered in the past, like Jetblue and Spirit.

If it succeeds JR (not MG) will be hailed as a business genius.

If it all goes south, upper management will shrug and move on to their next adventure while the employees look for new ways to feed their families.

That's interesting since you actually have no idea who I am though it appears you have tried to figure it out. And your assumption is wrong but A for effort. Thanks for the tell that I am getting under some skin in management. You're really good at jumping to conclusions when you spout of though. Maybe you should contribute to the discussion instead of just attacking people. You're not representing management very well. Now go get back to that sim session and don't bother us until you have something useful to say. You're like a chihuahua biting everyone's ankles.

Has anyone applied recently and received an email (tbnt/congratulations)? I just applied today. I know Allegiant isn't hiring at the moment, but I would like to know if I should expect an email of some sort.

I read through this thread. The last post about a congratulations email was in April. The last about a TBNT was in May.

Thanks.

Has anyone heard anything recently? I understand there’s no hiring at the moment. I sent my app in and I’m just wondering if I should expect to hear something back (tbnt, invite, etc)? Thanks.
