It was a huge mistake, let's not defend bad decisions....our union didn't. The history of allegiant is filled with guys who should have been fired four times over but stick around. It's very hard to get fired here and the guys who have, really gave the company a silver platter full of reasons.

Did they not have a report of smoke from both the FA's and from CFR?

Thank goodness we have guys like you on staff, Shiek. Without guys like you, the pilot group could probably stand a little more united, but you'll take care of that, won't you. Nice job, very classy, sir.

For the rest of the folks... Thunderpig nailed it. This could be a great place to work... Time (and a contract) will be the telling factor of how things will be in the future.
I don't think MD83 got awarded PIT CA, I believe he or she was just trolling trying to get a reaction/insinuate that new hires are sh@"&y pilots. I could be wrong though.

Actually, yeah.
The Captain and First Officer told me that all four flight attendants as well as CFR reported the smoke, but hey, we can call off the FAA and NTSB because the Shiek's got it all figured out.
Although it is a bit tough to understand some of the Shiek's story with his face in management's lap.

Wait a minute....
Upgraded out of seniority due to lack of work rules. Company 'cherry-picked' junior upgrades from within the AB fleet, or guys long out of seat/equipment locks in the 80. A proper contract would open a system-wide bid whenever a new base is established...fences coming down. A fair amount of more senior guys were locked-out of the PIT/CVG opportunity unfairly; many of whom commute from those locales. Consider yourself 'lucky' at the expense of your brethren!! I'm fortunate enough to be where I want to be, though it would be nice for my Base to transition to AB so there'd be a better mix of schedules & days-off...

The FA who called the captain about the "smell of burning rubber" is a well know paranoid flyer who is always trying to get out of work by causing MX issues and delaying duty days. He told me directly that there was never any smoke anywhere. Again, trolls who instantly attack. You folks are the only thing that makes working at allegiant a bad experience. There is one guy in my base that when all the new FOs fly with they instantly think they made a bad choice in coming here. Then they meet everyone else. You want to talk about class and unity? A few guys here bash and yell and scream while the rest of us try to keep things positive and together.

What I posted about the evac is what I have heard from crew members as well as MX. Plus, if you think you are going to evacuate an airplane do you turn off the runway after you land?

No, in fact CFR told them to not evac.....twice. Look, he got fired, there was cause to fire him because of his actions. He made the wrong choices along the way and it was all based on a quick upgrade flying with a brand new FO. Sucks to see a guy get fired even the ones who shouldn't be here. In PIE we all have the same "no fly list". There are even a few senior guys who are on borrowed time.

Once the credibility of your version gets kicked out from under you there is one less leg to stand on. Keep trying to say MX issues are dangerous and will kill people but crappy pilots aren't a problem. Everyone always says that one crash will put us under and it's true.
I have seen a half dozen guys get fired for making bad decisions, all of them weren't good pilots. In a few cases, I heard FOs complain about them for years! One guy likes to slip the 80 if he is high on short final. NOT COOL! The Lake Charles captain almost shut this company down and we are all lucky he didn't crash that plane. No one is defending that guy and I won't defend the "evac guy". Stand united with unskilled pilots who make bad decisions? (they are out there) we all make mistakes but we get paid to make judgment calls. The experienced 80 captains in PIE all think he made bad decisions to return and land overweight in the first place. The "smell" like I said, was reported by a hyper paranoid FA who over reacts and had already reported the "smell" early in the day to another captain. The "smell" went away. Pick better issues next time to stand with and you won't go down in a bitter screaming like a girl rage.

I have no clue what he's referring to. More senior guys bid that but didn't get it? Is he trying to make it sound like the company upgraded the junior aka "cheaper" new hires?

Ever hear of a seat lock?

Your facts (that you've heard from other people and MX) are not correct, so stop spreading them like you have first hand knowledge.

No one is perfect and mistakes are made. We should support our fellow pilots and shouldn't come on a message board typing out of our a@@'s. You never know who's next... Could be you.
