He is a known quantity... What will we get next? Could be worse. I have always heard that B.L. has been eyeing that job.

B.L. is who they have been grooming for some time to take over.

He attended the last negotiation meeting on behalf of the company as well so it makes sense.
I've heard good things from guys that have worked with him in the past but who knows what you will get once they are in the seat.
Next meeting starts this week so it will be interesting to see who attends and what progress is made.

Is this official? I recall there were rumors of GB leaving. Unless it's a sudden termination, these things tend to take a while to interview prospects and allow time to settle in and ease the transition. Internal promotions take less time but only guarantee more of the same. The new Sr. VP might follow tradition and replace current VPs with former trusted associates. I would go outside if I were him, from what I remember, there aren't many suitable internal choices that would rebuild the lost trust. Not that senior leadership appears to care, but if BL is who I think it is, the cure is probably worse than the disease. Guys that worked with him at his former airline didn't have many good things to say about him and from what I hear, that hasn't changed since he got there.

B.L. has been attending the negotiating meetings from pretty early on in the process. GB couldn't be bothered to attend, and he sent BL as his designated representative. There had been discussions for sometime as to how long GB would stay, with the way things were going (operationally and in negotiations). From what I have been told by others in management, he was always frustrated by not being able to make many changes due to the lack of funding for operations. I have no idea if that's true or not though.
