Ah yes, yet another condescending letter from our CEO tonight attempting to manage our expectations by using the same tired rationalizations. We must control soft costs! Union contracts contain prohibitively expensive items that benefit nobody! We're different!
This comes less than 72 hrs after he raided the coffers for a cool $25 million. If any of our pilots fall for this, they're too stupid to fly airplanes.

I skimmed it, fast. Already new what it was, propaganda; Goebbels style. Union contacts benefit no one. Except the pilots. Sounds more canned from the F&H group.

Two questions:
1. How quick could a newhire get either SFB or FLL for a base?
2. How does aircraft fleet selection work? Is the Mad Dog more than likely for most newhires or do they ever get a choice if a biddable base operates both the MD and the Bus?

Actually he alluded that union contract may not even benefit the pilots! Yeah, who the heck wants trip rigs, per diem, daily minimums, and industry standard compensation anyway when you can watch the top brass light cigars with $100's?

This is one of my favorite parts of the letter:
Our way of doing business is particularly effective at lowering “fixed costs” – the costs we pay regardless of whether or not our airplanes are flying. An example of a fixed cost is an aircraft lease, the money we pay to an aircraft owner for use of their aircraft. A lease for one of our Airbus aircraft is about $150,000 to $200,000 a month.
Which is money that goes right in to his personal pocket, since he now owns all the planes, and Allegiant leases them back from him. Wasn't the $25 million he just made from the company buying back his stock enough????

Anyone know when you get assigned your base? Is it day 1 of training or after. I know its operational needs but do they have that figured out prior to end of training?
Also, while on that topic. How is training? 2 weeks squeezed into 6 or are you slammed for the whole time?

You are slammed hard for training. Big time.

It’s totally random. They assign right to the last minute sometimes, meaning after you finish sim, sometimes a little before. Or, after sim, before ioe, during ioe. Who knows. Training, depends. They might be getting better. It can take a couple months, to as many six to eight. Just depends. I would count on 4 to 6 months just to be conservative.

I should have recited something similar to my dentist. Hey Doc, I’m trying to keep my cost down, I didn’t quite have a good year. I don’t think he would care. He or his secretary would just tell me the cost is cost. Ya, who wants trip rigs, and work rules?

I agree, it is that unstable. Let me introduce you to our favorite phrase around here, and you will hear it till you can’t take it anymore: “You need to be flexible.” You are expected to do what ever they dish out. And like it.
