2 years of sitting there across the table with their arms folded and now all of sudden they want to hammer out a deal in DC? It's painfully clear that they have zero intention of taking the process seriously. The "oh, but we wanted to meet but the big, mean IBT wouldn't" is just a desperate attempt to garner sympathy just on the off-chance there is an Allegiant pilot left without a fully functional brain.
Ya, they were just about to start negotiating. Darn, we missed our chance!
This isn't meant to be a poke in the eye or a snarky question:
Is it going to look negatively on the union that they were (allegedly) unwilling to meet in DC since the mediator was apparently unable to travel due to funds and (allegedly) the company offered to meet the union there?
Caveat: this was a topic of conversation between a couple of people and I was curious who was telling the truth.

Another good resource, are the latest emails from the union. A very good read. They lay out a convincing argument and address your question perfectly.

I don't know the exact numbers because I don't know when everyone leaves. I know people have gone to United, Delta, Southwest, USAir/American, Jetblue, Spirit, and several have either retired or been fired.

So the training department was backed up due to the sequestration and now the negotiations have slowed because the Teamsters wouldn't meet in DC.
Darn darn darn.....we were soooooo close too.
