Fair enough, but the same decisions can be made by remote... And most modern airlines have been able to autoland better than their pilots now (my user name CATIII) for decades... the technology is here, it's just a matter of when, not if.
Not to mention, that Russian 737 that went missed and nosedived in due to pilot Vertigo would never have happened.

Allegiant......
Their 'work rules' are so bad they can only talk about pilotless aircraft.
Their 'work rules' are so bad even their pilots want pilotless airplanes.
Ok, I'll stop, sorry
)
Wish we had the calendar day rig, would improve current deal tremendously. With exactly as you said, unpaid 30 hour layovers and 11-12 hr three day trips.

Honest question, did you type this on a smart phone, IPad, or some other new age device with auto correct? Or did you use any sort of spell check device?
If so, that is why pilots will not be excused from cockpits. Computers can only do so much and have a very limited range of options.
In the case of auto correct or spell check, it would never catch a mistake such as this because the parameters for a correct spelling have been met even though your typing is most certainly wrong.
If you did not use any form of auto correct or spell check and just used an everyday laptop, and this was just a case of "pilot error", then consider me your co-pilot who was able to correct a mistake.. Unlike your computer, IPad or smart phone which just let the plane fly into the ground because parameters were met..
