VBD guys are considered to be based in whatever base they happen to be in that month. There's no separate schedule award for them. I'm VBD, but my schedule is under the PGD section.

I find it hard to believe this is preferable to "regional hell."

What about regional hell in Houston?

Seriously, I am surprised that some labor group has not try to change some of the rules, at least to make it more level. Instead of having no timeline to come to an agreement before a cooling off period, say negotiate for 2 years, no agreement - automatic proffer and wait for another 6 months, no agreement - automatic 30 day cooling off agreement. Something like that. How can the rules be proposed to be changed?
It's definitely an RLA sandwich. And Allegiant management laughs at us all the way to their bank. Oh well, still won't be in favor of allowing g4 to manage our expectations and diminish our self worth. And the ancillary so called benefit of home every night for some is not a contractual guarantee; so it effectively is not to be relied upon to mitigate what some would view as trade off for pay.

About 9 months ago. I doubt any new hires will be going to CVG anytime soon, since there are a few people that want it but are seat locked out of it. As the time passes and those seat locks expire, those guys will bid over and further extend the time it will take you to get awarded it.

That seems to be a dangerous bet for the company to count on always being able to put fresh meat in the seat. Other airlines seem genuinely concerned about a steady flow of pilots. The big wave of hiring has barely begun and it will be ugly the next 10 to 15 years. Discouraging longevity seems risky in this environment. I think it's going to blow up in their face.

Yes but discouraging longevity enables the perpetual "quick upgrade" that pilots are always chasing..... thereby making your new hire rates attractive, rinse, repeat....

Allegiant management believes there isn't and never will be, a pilot shortage.

I'll bet rah guys recognize this:

September 29, 2015:

To Allegiant Pilots:

We are focused on reaching an agreement with you and with Local 1224 as soon as possible, so you can begin enjoying the benefits of increased compensation along with the stability of a complete RLA contract. Despite our efforts - and our significant steps forward - some of the information that you are receiving from the union regarding the status of negotiations doesn’t accurately reflect the progress we are making toward reaching a first contract.

To keep you up to date about our negotiations, we have launched a new website, www.G4management.lies.com, which will provide you with useful and ongoing information about Allegiant’s efforts to reach a deal. This new website includes many resources that you may find useful:
etc..
etc..
etc..
etc..
etc..

Since April we have made significant advancements towards a first agreement. There is still work to be done in some of the key sections of the contract, but we are confident that a deal will be reached that recognizes your contribution to Allegiant’s success and creates more opportunities for everyone.

I hope you find www.G4management.lies.com to be a useful resource. Please visit and sign up at the site to receive news and background information. As I mentioned, we will continue to update the website and post additional information on it in the coming weeks and months.

Disrespectfully,

Mav
