Where did you hear about the 22 "unannounced" aircraft?

This is purely optimistic speculation, but given the company's opportunistic approach to aircraft acquisition and their recent bond issuing announcement (which was subsequently rescinded), I wonder if these rumors don't coincide with Air Berlin's plans to shed 75 aircraft in the next few months. They happen to operate high-capacity Airbuses with CFM engines and given the German nature were undoubtedly meticulously cared for.

I thought those Air Berlin Airbuses were being wet leased to Eurowings (a new low-cost Lufthansa subsidiary)?

40 of them are, but they are shedding 75 aircraft. It looks as if they are trying to use the remaining to start a point-to-point airline serving European vacation destinations (sound familiar? &#128522, but that idea is still in the early stages of talks with another company and would require some sort of a partial merger.

Like I said, this is just wild speculation on my part.

They don't have enough instructors in the school house and the check airmen are backed up. I don't see how they can handle it.

Let's hope some of this banter is true!
Training could always be outsourced if needed. There are sims in DEN/MIA with certified instructors and it could be made available for the right price I'd imagine. If podunk regional airlines can grow 100% year over year when they get a big order (like Compass and Mesa did last year) then Allegiant can. Even cheapo Mesa has often sent new hires to Copenhagen to get things done.

It's more than speculation, this comes from credible sources. I'm just reporting what is being talked about at HQ/school house. I can't verify any of it other than it came from 'credible sources'

They are currently in the process of cross training all Airbus check airmen to be sim instructors/PC checkairmen as well. They have a plan.

That would be a first, particularly for the training department...
