Im in the Jan class and hoping for the Airbus, but my SS# doesn't bode well seniority wise. Say I get stuck on the MD Are both LAS or SFB attainable out of training. When exactly are the 80's going to be gone and won't they be moving people over as they are phased out? Will we find out equipment first week of training?

You're setting yourself up for disappointment if you're afraid you'll get "stuck" on the -80.

Contrary to what you read, the airplane won't be going away for a number of years.

Default MD80

I was awarded the MD80 recently. How does it work if I'm in a base like AVL or PIE or SFB that is converting to all Airbus?Do I have to follow the airplane and get displaced or do get realesed from my two year seat lock to go to the Airbus in that base?

It hasnt been tested yet. Per the contract you will be displaced. Prior to our contract you would have been protected in base.

Las should be easy out of training. Not sure about sfb, someone else should know. You should know first week.

Actually, it looks like it is taking a little longer to find out these days. Because of the re-bid, the October class was just included in the re-bid a couple of weeks after start date. The November class didn't get to select bases until after the November bid closed. So depending on class timing verses bid closing, it could take a few weeks. I don't know if that is the new normal or not, but it does seem to be heading that way.

I know several people who bid mixed lines in LAS and have not been called on afternoon reserve for over 2 months. I think it depends more on staffing and peak months but currently it is a very easy gig.

Can you explain what you mean? If the company decides to remove all MD80s from a base, why wouldn't they want to displace you per 12.L.1.a? Sure they can decide not to, but that would only mean a bunch of pilots would be getting paid indefinitely for not ever working again. That would be a great deal but doesn't sound likely.

12.D.3 says all vacancies will be awarded in seniority order. (I.e. a base decides it would like to add a bunch of airbuses)
