- Currently we are 11 FO's, I think the majority (albeit maybe a slim majority) of whom live in base or within driving distance, and don't intend on changing. That said, PIT still seems fairly junior on the FO side and VERY junior on the captain side, spots will continually open up.

- Downside: The top 2 or 3 guys will almost always take the longer leg trips (CUN, PUJ, AUS, 4 leggers) leaving a lot of 4.5 hour florida crap for the rest, so it can be a slog to get 80-90 hrs each month. We are probably a bit overstaffed on FO's at the moment, consequently there is very little open time, and when there is, it goes fast.

- Your seniority in base should certainly be able to hold a pure flying line within a year (best guess), and you should have no trouble holding PIT either right out of training (assuming you get the bus) or very soon thereafter (system bids are monthly), as there is ample movement within the pilot group...currently. Once you have a flying line, grouping days together and days off shouldn't be too hard; as I said, the planes fly every day. As for weekends off... you may have to wait a little while, but maybe not, depends on those above you.

-Nobody really knows the rhyme or reason as to new classes of 80 vs airbus. Its strictly company need, which they don't tell us obviously. Lately its seemed to favor the 80, but it's pretty much a total crapshoot. In any case, no matter what you get, it's nearly certain that within 2 years (at the absolute most, because of the seat lock) you'll be able to be PIT based.

More 'Chicken-Little' from the Tampa Bay Times based on older data. With the recent change in MX Mgmt & Corporate Culture, I'd imagine the most recent data would skew quite differently...

I spoke directly to someone involved with this project, it's true but idk how far past the planning stage it is. It is planned to be a dedicated crew hotel for us and other airlines, knowing the people involved that are not associated with G4 and combining that with the fact that it's got MG's fingerprints on it... I'd say roach motel for sure. Probably dumpy Fairfield inn quality with communal kitchens and once a week maid service.

Hampton Inn is the strong rumor.
