An open letter from Allegiant management:

COO LETTER-NOVEMBER 17, 2015
by ALLEGIANT AIR, NOVEMBER 17, 2015
To Allegiant Pilots:
As you know, earlier today during our 3Q Town Hall Meeting, Allegiant announced that it would provide all company employees below the Vice President level with a one-time, year-end bonus that will be paid with the December 15th payroll.
Allegiant had a very strong year – providing our customers in the low-cost leisure market with safe and affordable air travel to popular destinations. Our success this year has put the company in a position to reward the people that make our airline run every day – including our valued pilots, flight attendants and airport personnel.
We are pleased to be making bonus payments to employees of approximately 5% of a team member’s annual pay and details of the bonus payment can be found on G4 connect. Our success is tied to our unique business strategy that has thrived in an incredibly challenging aviation environment. Not only has this approach provided for over 51 consecutive quarters of profits, but it continues to afford real and exciting opportunities to all of you.
These opportunities include:
Meaningful profit sharing programs already built into our pay structure based on company success.
Unmatched flexibility – Our out and back network structure allows almost all of our flight crew members to fly with us and return to their home bases and families after their work is complete. This is unheard of in our industry – and is something we are proud to provide to our dedicated team members.
Chances for more seniority and career growth opportunities as the airline grows.
Allegiant’s success comes in an industry with a long history of bankruptcies and failed low-cost airlines that are no longer operating. We are mindful of this environment, and it guides our focus and commitment to our future.
Along those lines, back in September at our 2015 Annual Leadership Conference, Jude Bricker, SVP of Planning for Allegiant, delivered an update on our business plan and strategy for success that sets the path for Allegiant’s continued success. I encourage you all to review this presentation – as it outlines important information about how we think about opportunities in this market.
We keep saying that Allegiant is not like any other airline for a reason. We focus on low cost, low utilization and on flying to markets with virtually no competition. We will continue to grow and expand to more cities with more Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday flying (when customers want to fly.) We will also continue to move toward enhanced fleet standardization.
It is an exciting time to be a pilot for Allegiant as our growth potential is enormous. As we upgrade our fleet, new routes will open up to us and increase our success. Our growth means better opportunities for advancement and better pay.
We’ve had a solid year and we are pleased to recognize you for your contributions. Allegiant is a great place to work and we will continue to provide a great service for our customers. Thank you for all your hard work.
Sincerely,
Steve Harfst

I was told that SH was asked directly why they don't invest in newer Airbus that are ETOPS and mainland to Hawaii capable and would allow for one fleet type. The response was we don't buy new, not our MO and the used market is too good at this time. No long term vision whatsoever.
