FLL is an all Airbus base. It's anyone's guess how long it will take to hold FLL, although FLL has been pretty junior recently (most jr FO was hired 8/24/2015, 3 classes ago). As to whether you can hold Airbus in class, it will depend on your age and the class breakdown. The older/more senior in class you are you should be able to hold Airbus without too much problem. If you are young, you may not be able to hold Airbus. Although there is a disclaimer: the class right after 8/24/2015 had all 80 slots and NO Airbus slots. That is always a possibility and a risk you will have to take if you decide to come here. If you get the 80 there will be a 2 year equipment lock, so with FLL an all Airbus fleet it will be more than 2 years before you hold it.

Hi, anyone know how soon AVL may go airbus? Second question is, for a new hire with low seniority, what would the pros cons be of choosing AVL vs PIE or SAN (assuming MD80. The base sizes are very different and im guessing the larger bases would be a better bet from a scheduling/seniority standpoint. I also assume PIE and SAN flying/scheduling are fairly similar? Also at what point in training are the 'available' bases/eqpt given to the new hires to consider? Does the 'award' come whenever the regular quarterly bid comes out, and when are those? Thanks in advance, Fred
