LOL! DO YOU REALIZE THEIR PILOTS RATIFIED A THREE YEAR CONTRACT AMENDABLE IN 2018???
SkyWest Airlines pilots ratify 3-year labor contract | Labor content from ATWOnline
"SkyWest Airlines said a “strong majority” of its pilots have voted to accept a new, three-year labor contract. The agreement, which replaces a prior agreement that became amendable in January 2015, will run through mid-2018. SkyWest Airlines is a subsidiary of St. George, Utah-based regional airline operator SkyWest Inc. and the flight deck crew are represented by the SkyWest Airlines Pilot Association.
In any case, THEY AREN'T STARVING!

Did you read the contract and look at the payrates? They are at the bottom now of regional pay and they basically took a paycut (while other regionals are getting 20k bonus's) to buy more planes (just announced a large AC order) and undercut the other regionals. Skywest is essentially the scum of the regional world now.
Anyway, how about that min calendar day. 2020 we get a min Cal. Day, better sick time, and improvements to Reserve. Or do we get ALPA and go for a me 2 Delta contract.

Arado,
The problem with APA does not lie as much with the leadership (although there are plenty of issues there) as much as it lies within the DNA and lack of accountability that exists within APA. Also, the fact that management does not have to worry about dealing with a much more powerful union that has lots of clout (ALPA)... they know that APA is much more insignificant in the grand scheme of things and exploits that fact every contract cycle.
Management will fight tooth and nail to prevent us from going back to ALPA.. that should be reason enough to want it.
I also believe that we would be the biggest group in ALPA with the most influence and most amount of dues payers... that, combined with the assets and resources ALPA dedicates to its legacy pilot groups would go a long way towards an industry leading contract.
APA has become irrelevant and unfixable over the years.. The proof is in the crap contracts AA pilots have suffered under for decades.

I seriously doubt that a change of union is going to change the DNA of this pilot group. Talk to ALPA members and you have similar reactions to attitude and lack of accountability over there. Remember our $3600 APA dinner? Happened over there on the ALPA side, too. I think the problem is (and I'll get a lot of heat over this) mainly generational. The standard "you'll be senior one day" doesn't work anymore, since a LOT of new hires had to spend years (some 10+) at regional airlines that were only intended to keep you employed for a max of 1 to 2 years (pre 9-11).
Talk to some LUS pilots and get a different perspective. If you want change, it has to come from within. ALPA is not going to fix people like TW in DFW who seems to milk the whole system. I am afraid that his perks will only increase with ALPA. The similarity to the pigs in "Animal Farm" seems to become more and more clear.
If you want change, DO something. Most of us didn't even bother to vote.
