American Airlines used to do wide body international, and they were damn good at it. Most of us who have been in this industry a while remember AA DC-10, A300, and 767 Luxury Liners flying all over the world.
But then they were taken over by US Air. US Air was a hodgepodge domestic/regional airline conglomeration that was scared of wide body international and never more than dipped their toes in it. And that brought us the "American" of today, which is AA in name only, like a little boy wearing his dad's old shoes.

Remember when those Maddog engines kept blowing up, due to really crAApy maintenance? Blame USAir for that, too?
At old superior AA, employees even had to pay to non-rev on their own metal. Ah, the good ol' days...
What did the USair/AWA get out the superior LAA thinking? Weight restrictions for the Jumpseat. 'Cause it's always been that wAAy, and quite frankly, you should be livin' in base, son!

I flew China Eastern in biz- nice 1-2-1 seating, but the entire biz cabin smelled like cigarette smoke. You could literally see smoke coming out of the cockpit as the pilots took down carton after carton over 12+ hours.

It does not sound like you non-rev on us at all if you think the 321T is the only premium product we have.

Sounds like poor maintenance or parts.....I fly the 767 and can only recall twice in 6 yrs where our flight didn't go because of plane mx.

It looks like AA took/is taking 12 787 deliveries from 2022/23. Are there any rumors about more vacancies for these planes, where they'll be based at? I'd imagine a fair number of 787 pilots will be retiring in the next 5 years as well.

They just ran a vacancy bid for next June and the 787 awards were minimal. Quite a few 777 spots though. I’m not sure what’s going on with 787 staffing. People have been saying we were “fat” on pilots for a couple years now but we’ve had a steady stream of retirements without any corresponding big vacancy awards. It’s pretty stagnant. Maybe the increased 787 domestic flying is reducing the required number of pilots on the fleet. Less augmented trips. Or the training department is still FUBAR’d. Who knows…
