How long will it last?

Why does everyone think that the govt would never allow another big merger, but would sit back and let one or more major carriers liquidate?

I truly believe the fate of AA lies in the hands of the government at this point. How do you exit bankruptcy without a plan for profitability? No amount of restructuring of debt or cutting of salaries solves the inherent problem. And right now by the looks of it things aren’t getting better quick enough for everyone to survive. Even a merger doesn’t solve the problem.

In BK you have to give something up. Won’t be the same coming out as going in. Not to mention contracts will be renegotiated. I would expect about 30% smaller.

When the end game will either be close the doors or merge ,the DOJ will allow another big merger . To not understand this is to not understand big government.

CH11 could happen but there would have to be a rebound in flying so AA can generate the cash flows needed to run the business but not necessarily service it’s debt.
