How is everyone enjoying it at AA? Have the blessing to choose between the 3. Pretty much full time commuter for the rest of my life. AA has always been #1 to me for multiple reasons and I can see myself moving to a base (one day possibly). But are y'all happy outside of negotiations? Company stable enough to last the next 30+ years?

Newhire DOH pay still offset and still no 401k company contributions(below Ind Std)

No 401k DC % increase

No sick time increase(remain below Alaska and Delta...and possibly United if they increase sick time)

No increase to vacation credit. Alaska has higher credit than we do.

No increased vacation credit until year 2026, at earliest. Alaska's TA has 5 hrs credit right away.

LTD, which is significantly improved, will still be below United, jetBlue, Delta, Alaska and others. Even the highlights don't meet industry standard.

RO will be even worse. The new RO will save the company 150 million dollars, at the expense of us pilots. We will fly more, and give the company more options to fit flying on our schedule that runs 5 hours beyond the footprint of our original trip.

6 hour airport standby during some IROPS RO events.

No gains to commuting, non-rev travel, or discounted travel. We still are not weight or bump protected from company jumpseats.

RAS implementation, likely acceleraterated. Will ruin QOL for all reserves. Proffering and seniority will be much more limited or not applicable at all, in many cases.

TTS still under total company control. Trip trading platform lockdowns will become the new normal....effectively destroying QOL and flexibility for lineholders.

Bottom of industry 321 pay, and even worse 321neo pay. Aircraft still in groups, which is a significant win for the company.

Variable premium that means we will never get 100% like Delta.

No increase to international pay mentioned. No redeye pay.

All this for a 1st year pay package that will still be less than Alaska pilots' TA.

I cannot wait to read the next negotiations update, to see what other concessions we are throwing in.

More concessions coming. If you choose not to apply here. Respect! If you still want to come Respect! With that said, you’ll likely have the worst contract out there. Largest Airline be damn. No leadership here on either side.

I'm a regional CA 450 TPIC / 4,500TT all civilian.
If it helps, I am also a regional CA, 2800 TPIC / 6,800 TT, no degree. I did not get an on the spot CJO. They had a paperwork question for me that I resolved the next day via email. The CJO followed a few days after. I know others that were hired without a degree as well. If you got an interview than it shouldnt be an issue at all. They didn't even ask me about my education.

The onboarding process is great, I thought. Day to day, I fly with great CA's, and enjoy the flights. Navigating the contract and scheduling flow charts can be a Byzantine exercise at times.

Take everything on APC with a grain of salt, of course, but I did find this nugget on another subforum, which I would be hard pressed to argue against:
First, have a look at AA’s Contract or talk to anybody who works there: it would take a cover to cover rewrite to bring their contract up to DL, UA, SWA, etc.
We did recently have a well publicized case of a senior FO, union volunteer, who left for Purple.
You have a great problem on your hands. Only thing I'd offer is on commuting: I live not only in base, but at the mothership--I'm in my own bed for training as well as sitting reserve, or driving into my line, depending on the month. Highly recommend. Consider DEN, DFW, or ATL, as you consider the three.

Commuting is 80% of my angst. If you are committed to life long commuting then what you need to know is which airline will offer the easiest commute. Many factors involved. MSP-ORD, MCO- MIA for example is a very tough commute at AA. Looks easy on paper but the large amount of employees doing it makes it very hard. I recently had 13 pilots/flight attendants on MCO-MIA route. Own airline will help. Avoid regionals to commute on. AA does not have flight deck jumpseat as part of aircraft BOW. I have been left behind twice recently because of weight restricted flights. Ouch. We used to sometimes get positive space if flight was full and you call scheduling. Not anymore. A pilot hating management pilot has put an end to that. Jerk.

Congratulations. Don’t commute.

Where I’m at AA is an easy commute to -CLT/DCA/PHL/NYC. The DL and UA commutes are not okay. buddies here say they have 30+ people on their list to atlanta and United isn’t as bad but you only have EWR/ORD. And like I said CLT/DFW are places I can potentially live.

A lot of people on APC are the negative type but most seem realistic. The friends I have who started at AA within the last year seem to really enjoy it. I’m just more worried about their financial position and if management will ever get better from what I hear here

Im a line holder in MIA and commute from ATL. I plan my jumpseats a week ahead of time since we can reserve them a week ahead. I give myself 2 flights or if I have an early show I’ll book a hotel through our company travel at my expense. The headaches come with weather cancellations and of course this summer was rough on commutes. MIA I also use alternate airports like FLL and PBI, they’re all connected via train and I have my tri-rail train card from AA.

In the next months I’ll be moving the family to Florida to make it easier and be within a reasonable driving distance and not worried about commutes. That just takes less stress away for the rest of my career here.

Home based in DFW and been here a minute. There's alot of complaining and negativity. Some warranted. But I've really enjoyed my QOL here in base and I like it here. We do need a management refresh and a new contract but that will come.

Thanks for the response. Congratulations on getting the job. Hopefully I'm not too far behind. 😅
