Plus he compares Isom's number which include at least 401k contributions (maybe even predicted PS?) to Delta's straight wages. It's not an apples to apples comparison.

If you want some real cringe, read the comments. This manœuvre was also a way to make American pilots look unreasonable in the eye of the flying public.

I don't think we're unified enough for it to make sense. What message does it send when our peers vote 95+% to strike and we vote 59%? I want to be optimistic, but I just had three senior guys (one check airman) on the flight deck say we need to accept a deal yesterday, and it's BS that the young guys are willing to vote no while having decades left to reap the benefits of seniority progression at the expense of those close to retirement.

Yeah, it's obvious that many in the comments took the pay rates as something pilots make over their entire career annually. I'm sure Isom is playing on the public's missunderstanding of how a pilot's career trajectory works.

It’s also hard for us to garner sympathy from the public when those numbers get tossed around.

These credit card bloggers and the airliners.net crowd did the same thing re: Delta’s TA. Yawn.

Considering the way American staffs the operation, 60% will be plenty.

Our previous CEO said something similar. Remember you don't get that office without being a highly compensated professional liar.

Wow, that is quite the safety issue. Think of the radio calls that could be missed because of the uncontrollable laughter erupting. Wow…
