But why even have the $50? It would make sense for APA to use it for public shaming or getting rid of it. But that is just MO.
Yes it may be less than half of what you have for twice the premium, but it pays out for 12 months. Not just 60 days with a 30 day elimination period to bridge you to LTD, like Spirit. Am I mistaken? Does Spirit pay that 2k/week for more than two months?

No, you are right, it is just for the bridge. And I said (or tried to say) the 12 months was better, and more than makes up for the higher premium. I was more talking about the fact that the company provided one seems worse than useless, and wondered why even have that. But I am not AA, so shouldn't interfere.

And they’ll be walking out the door happy campers. Hey I’m all for it, we’ll all be retiring at some point.

Sick sell-back – or – Retiree Health Reimbursement Arrangement (RHRA) option for pilots at retirement at 66% of the value of accrued sick bank (up to $200,000).

Just to yank you chain a little:
2. Upon medical retirement, a pilot shall be paid for his accumulated sick leave at 100 percent of his hourly rate of pay, subject to bank credit limitations (700 hours).
3. A pilot who retires at the mandatory retirement age with 25 years of service shall be paid for his accumulated sick leave at 100 percent of his hourly rate of pay, subject to bank credit limitations (700 hours).

Up to $210K value, going up to $218K in '24.

Having said that, my bank is never over 80, and our accrual rates are thrash.

At Spirit, I think the max sick bank is around 650, ish? Having said that, no one uses it. Because there is no need to. At NK, you just drop anything and everything you want, down to 0 if you wanted to. Many have max sick banks because there is no reason to use it, because of the drop rules.

Is there a drop limit at AA?

No, but you're never going to have as much green as NK.

No reason to apologize, I wasn’t offended. Just shook my head a few times.
