…all the way from 1% to 1.5%… I mean sure, it is a 50% increase in dues… but way up? Isn’t ALPA normally 1.85%?

That said, the expectation is that with another heavy hitter, the dues rate would drop significantly.

ALPA is paying their top 3 national officers $2.5M or so. It's hard not to see that as an utterly absurd extravagance.

The choice is AA pilots' alone, just thought it might be helpful to have the facts when considering your choice, especially since a common compliant is the 'higher dues rate'. Good luck.

Yes. But the point is that for the last 2 years, the effective rate has been right at 1.5%. And, if another 17,000ish pilots join/merge with ALPA, I would fully expect that to come under the condition to permanently lower the dues % to a similar, or even lower rate.

Secondly, there are many ALPA carriers who dues dollars do not support their airlines union operation. It’s not that pilot groups fault, they are small and the dues dollars are just not enough to support their MEC/LECs without National “redistribution of dues” from other carriers. So AA dues dollars will be increased from APA 1% to help subsidize smaller ALPA carriers.

First, IF dues were to decrease from 1.5% if AA were to join, it would be because AA pilots would be paying more than our current 1%. This is a fact.

Ok, then APA pilots can vote "no," if such an option even presents itself. I'm sure APA is overplaying its hand in these negotiations with ALPA, so there may not be a merger to even vote on. Probably for the best. APA pilots can keep paying a lower dues rate, ALPA pilots can keep paying a higher dues rate, and we'll see who is more successful and will actually raise the bar in the long run. Best of luck to them.

DAL, FedEx, and UAL are all paying more than their "fair share" in order to keep the entire ALPA structure going.

How many of these groups could even afford their MEC office or union work buyouts if the big 3 weren't overpaying into the system?

The sad part is you think paying more in dues money equates to a "better" CBA.

Secondly, ALPA has been partially refunding dues the past two years.
