APA officially in negotiations with ALPA

I tend to agree with you, ALPA was pretty generous with FedEx. A successful agreement here also paves the way to bring Southwest and UPS into the fold later. Those are all positives for ALPA national. The biggest question in my mind is if APA wants this or if it's all a show to waste time and in the end say, we tried but couldn't make it work. Time will tell.

Which that "amendment" is in the process of being overturned. Seems absurd we have so many poison pills and bylaws that discourage actual representation of the pilot group.

We'll see if ALPA understands this.

But ALPA needs to change its way of doing business to placate APA? Sure.
APA is going to overplay its hand and ALPA will walk away at some point. And that’s ok.

this is where I am as well. We need 50% + 1 if it ever comes to a vote. That is 50% of the pilot group, not 50% of voters. Anyone who doesn’t vote is counted as a no. Sounds like this was setup to fail from the beginning.

And even that would require all 50%+1 to be yes voters. What are the chances that everyone that votes will be in favor of a merger, let alone getting more than half the pilots to vote.

But thanks anyways for living up to the stereotype and injecting your highly valued opinion into our discussion.

While I don’t disagree, there are those who don’t care either way. I’ve flown with many who have said they don’t vote because they don’t really care. They show up, do their job, and go home. Whether their bag says APA or ALPA is irrelevant. It would be nice to get those guys/gals involved because their vote could matter. Many didn’t vote for their base reps so I don’t see them showing up to vote for a union. If they don’t care who represents us, them voting yes could make a big difference.
