Looks like the membership will get to vote to keep/remove the previously adopted 1) 25 year ban and 2) passing of a merger requiring votes cast vs majority of pilots on the list.

Yeah I saw earlier, thank god. Time to rescind (vote to repeal) this ridiculous Gustin Amendment.

As someone who leans ALPA in this whole process, doesn’t repealing the gustin amendment move the goal posts a bit? We couldn’t seem to organize a card drive to get 50% +1 to force a vote so instead we are looking for something less than a majority of eligible voters to get a future merger to pass.

I’m all for this merger process but also interested in what’s fair and equitable to the whole pilot group.

I’d figure there’s 1/4 of the pilot group that doesn’t care who represents us. Is that their problem? I guess it makes it so. Or is the argument that these people should be informed and involved and must vote one way or the other?

I’m very undecided. But I’ll be voting not to repeal the Gustin amendment or the 25 year moratorium. IMO, if we’re going to change unions it needs to pass big or we need to move on.

How would it help people move on?

Can you even vote away future voting rights?

Amendment stands via a vote, and can’t undone with a new vote?

How does todays voting body establish authority over a future voting body?

You have it backwards - APA (Gustin) moved the goal posts by enacting this stupid "amendment" without membership approval. They moved the goal posts in 2023 and didn't ask for our opinion.

Didn’t a card drive always require 50%+1? The Gustin amendment just formalized it since it would be done through APA voting?

Yes, we can absolutely vote the moratorium away down the road if we so choose. This entire thing is a massive distraction and expensive, we don’t need to do it every 5 years.

As far as I care, if somebody can't be bothered to vote then their opinion shouldn't count any way.

If APA didn't want their existence in danger maybe they shouldn't have ignored the majority of the pilot group during the last contract negotiation in favor of a few loud voices from The Line. Actions have consequences. sorry not sorry
