I know that basically almost every off the street new hire that's not military is basically Spirit.

Did anyone get CJOs at NGPA?
I saw 19 CJOs went out from one of the recruiting pilots that randomly appeared in my feed today

I guess you can take me for example. Hired with 2,600 TT and 500 121TPIC. Last year I attended NGPA, they said to upgrade and volunteer. So I upgraded at my regional and volunteered with my union. Then I attended RTAG for another meet and greet which led to the interview. Other things in my resume were a Bachelor’s degree and prior enlisted military service. Good luck! PIC is king!

So much for this metering nonsense some pilots like to use as an excuse for a poor resume and not attending fairs. Congrats!

I feel like you get this a lot, but once again, what are you talking about? The OP you responded to works for a UX carrier, so ‘metering’ to AA doesn't make sense in their case.

There were 510 flows from AA WOs last year and only 22 that were hired outside the flow.

Getting an interview as an AA WO pilot is absolutely not common.

Not talking about flow, that is not what the "metering" term is used to describe. I'm talking about the frequent complaints from Skywest and Republic pilots. Yet our new hire classes are full of them. Op did not state where he worked.

OP flies for CommuteAir out of IAD according to his post history. They would not be subject to metering to AA in any case as they fly exclusively for United Express.

Default Non-Flow WO Pilot Interview/Hiring Odds

How about WO pilots? A couple of us have ~10K TT, ~8K Turbine PIC, well over 1,000 121 PIC, internal recs, 121/135/91 experience, international, etc. but never get a nibble from the online app.

Is going to a conference the only hope for us other than the flow?

A guy in my class (Street Captain) got the call for AA interview the day he started at a WO. Talked to the recruiter who didn't know what to do. He never heard a peep from the recruiter again, even called a few times to try and follow up. I don't know if he bothers to keep his app current now.

I am of the mind that none of it matters and going to conferences is like a lottery. Very very very low odds. But some people pull it off.

You have to get lucky to beat the flow. It happens, but it’s rare. I think anything you can do to increase your odds is money/time well spent.
