I figured out what it was...I was clicking on the shortcut in my page history and was going to the login page. That statement is on the actual careers front page. I was doing a job search and nothing was popping up. Anyways, all it does is take you to AA.pilotcredentials.com anyways.

I'm sorry, I don't have any inside info that can help beyond what is available on the web site itself.

My understanding is that the applicant pool will be whittled down by some sort of algorithm, and then people will be individually contacted for an initial video interview, either by phone or email, probably the former.

I am sincere in wishing pilots good luck. AA is starting to blossom a bit, moving away from some nasty bad times, and morale is picking up for the first time in over ten years. We are a relatively older bunch, and people picked up in the early rounds of this hiring are going to be in a good position fairly quickly.

The whole application is based on a point system that will score the application and narrow a pool for the first round of interviews. The AA pilotcredential website is notorious for barely having any information. How do you expect them to score the application? The fact they didn't put down any minimums means that even brand new regional airline pilots can apply. When they have 10,000+ applications, they need to narrow it down to a couple hundred for interviews.

How do you do that? Total time? TPIC time? IMO, the first round they will run is a system cutoff for Boeing/Airbus time pilots and see how many there are throughout the system.

LOL! Are you serious? For better or worse, military time is and has always been king at the majors. I don't think your AB time is going to make up for 0 TPIC. As the experienced guys above have said, your current equipment type isn't going to do jack for you at AA. They've got 5 fleet types on property now, just because you happen to fly one of them doesn't mean anything. CRJ FO time = Airbus FO time. Just part 121 turbine SIC.

At which incorrect point in time did you think I was applying? I'm going off of what I've read from other people's experiences. IMO, RJ Captains today are more of a dime a dozen than guys with Boeing/Airbus time regardless of PIC or SIC. Good luck to you, I don't have a dog in the fight of who gets called.

"CRJ FO time = Airbus FO time."

Not sure everyone posting about AA's hiring gates said that. The posts refuted - AB time = +++ = move ahead of others.

Flying a larger jet, like a 150,000 lbs+ jet vs. an RJ/CRJ, IMO, has some value. It's a slight plus. It won't be a deal breaker.

I'd think they'd put more value in TPIC time, Part 121 CA time, CKA/IP time, and the breadth of experience.

So many opinions! Can't we just make this an East vs. West thread already. I've been dying to hear about it. We should find out exactly what kind applicants American is looking for fairly soon. Then we can all stop assuming and arguing about it

Hope that algorithm allows for at least some pilots with no 121 PIC. There are a lot of us 6-7 year FOs at the regionals who were stuck in the right seat.

Guess time will tell.
