American interviews and class dates
#3631
I was hoping I could get some advice from some of you that have been flying with AA or have gotten hired recently?
I'm currently active duty Army, set to retire late next year. 3600 TT, 2000 RW, 1600 MEFW (all King Airs), 1600 total PIC, 1050 MEFW PIC. Bachelors degree and ATP.
What do I need to do in order to distinguish myself from everyone else in hopes of getting hired on with a Major or even possibly a Legacy airline? I know of several people from the Army that have applied with the likes of American and Delta, Jet Blue and Southwest, and some got hired and some didn't even get interviews, and for the life of me, I can't understand why one person made it and another couldn't even get in the door.
Thanks!

Can anybody who has interviewed provide details on what to expect for the Pilot Skills Test (PST) on Day 1 of the interview process? I got called Friday for a Tuesday/Wednesday interview and the only thing I can find regarding the PST is from 2013 that says "The PST is a new, computerized evaluation program that measures the critical skills necessary to become an American pilot."
Is there a sim portion of the process, computer-based hand-eye coordination, technical test, etc? Any way to prep (study FAR/AIM)?
Good luck to anybody else heading to Dallas next week!

Is there a specific box to check in the AA application for volunteer experience? I've been searching for about 45 minutes and can't find anything aside from putting it on a resume and uploading the resume as a PDF.
There is a small, somewhat difficult to find section on AirlineApps that I can put my volunteer experience in but I can't find anything in the AA pilot credentials website.
Thanks in advance.

I just put it under employment, put salary as $0 and I explained it later. On my resume I believe I put it at the bottom and listed it as Volunteer.
Hope that helps.

All... Curious about AA hiring prospects...
My stats:
Retired Military 20 years, all Turbine PIC/IP/EP... approx 3500 hrs.
I put my app in September but only in Pilot Credentials... THAT's IT! Is that enough? Is there another portion like SWA? I've looked but the AA website shows no jobs for FOs currently??
I've also heard that 1 of my friends got "called" by AA after being CJO received by SWA...
Anything I can learn about the OTS prospects would be appreciated!
