What do I need to do in order to distinguish myself from everyone else in hopes of getting hired on with a Major or even possibly a Legacy airline? I know of several people from the Army that have applied with the likes of American and Delta, Jet Blue and Southwest, and some got hired and some didn't even get interviews, and for the life of me, I can't understand why one person made it and another couldn't even get in the door.

Thanks!
Sometimes its just an educated guess but most ive seen from Army or any mil for that regard had additional duties, IP/SP/IE, Safety Officer etc... Also community involvement seemed to be on a lot of folks resumes... Anyone else care to comment?

Is there a sim portion of the process, computer-based hand-eye coordination, technical test, etc? Any way to prep (study FAR/AIM)?

Good luck to anybody else heading to Dallas next week!
Seriously...the best thing you can do is go in there with a good attitude and laugh about it. If it counted (especially the math section) we would all be on the street..or at least a majority would. Just think of it as a game and put on your best happy face. They do observe you and what looked to be taking notes. Don't quote me on that but it sure seemed like it. Don't be like the guy next to me who made the motion of blowing his brains out with his "finger gun" and make eye contact with the exam proctor. Im pretty sure she took notes on that one. I just laughed and had the good interview attitude. The only one I can remember the most about was the memory map game. it flashed a bunch of symbols up and you had to figure out where on the map they where. Somehow in true pilot form I always managed to find the the bar and the airport....not necessarily in that order though) Good luck and congrats on the interview. Hopefully its not a year wait like the rest of us.

Sweet, congrats! When did you interview? How many left from your group? I heard 8 off-the-street revived a phone call today. One was from Oct interview group and the rest from Jan.

Is there a specific box to check in the AA application for volunteer experience? I've been searching for about 45 minutes and can't find anything aside from putting it on a resume and uploading the resume as a PDF.

There is a small, somewhat difficult to find section on AirlineApps that I can put my volunteer experience in but I can't find anything in the AA pilot credentials website.

Thanks in advance.

Adanac,
I just put it under employment, put salary as $0 and I explained it later. On my resume I believe I put it at the bottom and listed it as Volunteer.
Hope that helps.

All... Curious about AA hiring prospects...

My stats:
Retired Military 20 years, all Turbine PIC/IP/EP... approx 3500 hrs.

I put my app in September but only in Pilot Credentials... THAT's IT! Is that enough? Is there another portion like SWA? I've looked but the AA website shows no jobs for FOs currently??

I've also heard that 1 of my friends got "called" by AA after being CJO received by SWA...

Anything I can learn about the OTS prospects would be appreciated!
