Can anyone who has been hired recently with any marks on their record explain how that went during the interview? Made a horrible mistake back when I was 18/19 having a fake id trying to buy some beers in a liquor store. Didn’t realize how it would follow me for the rest of my career. Charge was essentially dropped but it’s still in the background checks. United and Delta gives you a place to explain a situation like this in the airline apps, but I don’t see anywhere appropriate to put it in pilot credentials. I obviously want to own up to my mistake in the application prior to any possible interview (if I can even get one with that in my past).

“Horrible mistake”...I don’t think that’s a horrible mistake at all. That’s just part of growing up, who didn’t have a fake ID back then (don’t know how old you are, but guessing this was the 90’s) Wasn’t hard to do, pretty common. You made a minor mistake in that you got caught with it.

Owned it, show that you learned from it and have had a clean record since then.

“Who didn’t have a fake ID back then” and “minor mistake”? Why he get charged if it was no big deal?

Yes, I knew lots of kids with them (this was when ID’s weren’t all that sophisticated). Most of those folks are very successful now. Kids do dumb stuff, so yes I stand by it’s not a big deal. It’s how you recovered from it that really matters, it’s not a game ender (though at the time for a young adult it may seem like it).

I had a misdeamer for example when I was 20, disorderly conduct at a college party. The Air Force not only hired me but gave me a TS/SCI and an even higher clearance that required an in depth interview (not like the TS stuff) the guy interviewing me could tell I’d cleaned up my act, we laughed about it actually. It was not an issue at all for the airline either.

Of course, I’m not in the hiring department either, so there’s that...

I had multiple misdemeanors between age of 17-18 (senior HS/Freshman college). I swear trouble followed me back then or looking back I was just stupid (most likely the latter). One was a LOT more serious than a fake ID or disorderly conduct. As PRS said, even those never stopped me in the Air Force and I was offered interviews at two different legacies. Fess up, take ownership, and a clean record since speaks for itself. Everyone makes mistakes (or even multiple for those of us too hard-headed to learn on the first). I wouldn’t sweat it, nothing you can do now to go back and change it anyhow.

I mean this with all due respect and not with any ill intent but . . . WHO CARES!!!! Nobody gives a rats arse if you used a fake When you were 19. Who didn’t? You just weren’t sneaky enough to get caught. Nobody cares. Trust me I have MUCH worse in my past. Do what you do and nobody will think twice about it!!!

Default Additional info request

I received the American Airlines additional info request email at the beginning of the week and it’s now Friday and I’ve heard nothing back. Has anyone recently received the additional info email request and then not received the face to face interview invite? Does the additional info email mean that I passed the video interview? Should I just shut up and be patient? I’m just curious about the process and any light that can be shed is appreciated.
