Feel free to stick your heads in the sand but people fly on AA because they must not because they want to. That is reserved for DAL, JetBlue, SWA and Virgin America. They will gut us. Just look how much capacity those four carriers have added recently while still keeping load factors and yields in check. Those were our customers once, not anymore.
Look at how our front line employees treat our customers. This is management's fault, they pay crap wages and expect good people to show up for work. Ha!

These "rankings" have ZERO validity. Last year United was on the bottom of THIS ranking. How have they improved? The CEO there stepped down, but nothing has really changed or improved. There are about 100 "rankings" throughout the year. I can't remember which it was, but AA was in the top 3 in one of them. These things are like rottentomatoes reviews on movies. You might actually like a movie everyone hates and hate a movie everyone likes. Just because this one is from the WSJ means nothing. Notice in the bottom notes, the author of this articles used "rankings" of his choice to make HIS "rankings".
Here's where ratings matter.....when the customer selects "show by price lowest to highest" on their search for a ticket. That's the only ranking that matters.

Seriously????
Lets go through the hubs...
PHL - AA owns it
CLT - AA owns it (HUGE money maker with high yields)
DCA - AA largest presence there (very high yields in this base)
JFK/LGA - almost as large as DAL
BOS - decent size (especially now with LGA/DCA shuttle operation)
MIA - AA owns it
ORD - a little smaller than UAL
DFW - AA owns it (currently has plans to crush Spirit's operation there)
LAX - one of biggest carriers and our CEO announced plans to be biggest carrier there eventually
PHX - AA biggest carrier there I believe (SWA is other big carrier there)
By "owning it" I mean has a majority of gates/flights/feeder flights.
The AA network/route structure is HUGE with many of our domiciles as "owned" bases. If I were a betting man, I'd say that our company's future is not in jeapordy.

JFK/LGA- The NYC market has enough O/D traffic to support the international flights. They will not pull out of the largest market in the US.
PHL- This one would seem that it would be at risk being so close to LGA/JFK and DCA. PHL is in a good location to be a hub on the east coast and funnel point for trans atlantic traffic. There are not enough slots available in NYC to replace PHL.
DCA- Another big market, with O/D traffic to support it. Doubt it's going anywhere.
CLT- To me, this one seems to be most at risk since it's almost all connecting traffic. However, word on the street is it is VERY profitable. AA has a huge cost advantage in this hub. As long as it remains profitable it should be safe.
MIA- Gateway to Latin America. I've never flown into MIA and don't know much about this hub but I haven't heard of anyone thinking MIA is going anywhere.
ORD- Keeps shrinking. Execs keep saying ORD is vital. Not sure what their long term plan is, maybe they're OK being behind United.
DFW- Fortress
PHX- Execs say it's profitable and isn't going anywhere. Not enough gate space at LAX to absorb the flights. If a hub were to disappear, I think this would be it IF they can secure more gates in LA.
LAX- Growing. AA wants to be number 1 in the LA market. We can't get enough gates.
