Float

floated. It looks like a ponzi scheme. Guys with no skin in the game asking others to give forgo up to 12% of their pay. Plan do secret thru couldn't tell the bod. Bod took five days to agree up support it. They were busy, flying non stop for five days, and too busy to communicate. Bod decision made with no review of the data supporting the 'no float' call. $40,000 decision. Welcome to apa logic

Is it really any wonder to any of you why management only gives the absolute minimum on everything?

I didn't float this year per Carey. Zero days. I floated 10 last year so this will help demonstrate to management that at least 75% of the pilot group will listen to the union. And I actually got decent weeks off the first two rounds so I think having the extra weeks in the pool helped. My last two rounds were the usual Jan/Feb leftovers but hey, PHX is nice that time of year and its two weeks I won't be commuting to JFK.
There are always excuses to not do something. When you need to send a message to management then you'd best be thinking of the group, not yourself. The APA did a horrible job getting this message out but it should be obvious to everyone that Parker needs to know that we can act in unity. Management will get away with what ever they can. It's up to the union to show management there are limits. And it's up to the pilots to support the union. Otherwise we are 15000 freelance contractors and that's not going to do anyone any good.

Just slow down for one minute, Slice has helped more new hires and potential new hires over the last 18 months than anyone I know. I personally was hired Jan 15 and he answered every single question I had and even let me call him if needed. He didnt even know me!
Maybe he did float some leave but we all have our reasons but it doesn't change the fact that he is here to help all new hires. Slice has been at AA for 25+ years and gets nothing out of helping us. He does it because he is a great guy.
Let's not bash him because he floated. The emails were slow to come out and get disseminated to all. Plus some guys have really good reasons they needed to float, like medical reasons.
Yes we all need to come together as one, yes we need to listen to our Union, yes we need to stop attacking each other and focus our energies on a new contract in 2019.
7576fo I standby you moving forward but let's not bite the hand that helps new hires over what you perceive to be a direct action against the union. We honestly don't know all the circumstances. Just saying...

Your spot on. Many pilots don't understand that it's the unity that will get us where we need to be.
I agree the message from APA was a little late in coming and it was sporadic. I believe it was mainly due to Carey finally standing up and leading by doing something while the BOD was flailing internally on coming to a decision. It has been said Carey put out his message without the BOD first formally taking that policy position.
Not sure that's true.
Regardless, he did something. And as you wrote we as union members need to support our leadership. If we don't we will never achieve anything.
Thanks for not floating. It's through these actions we become stronger and more unified as a group and hopefully all start looking at each other as one.

Who cares? You complain about being paid less than your peers and then you throw out comments like that intended to divide the pilot group. Is that going to help everyone get a DAL+ contract?

I expect more form a well informed 900 seniority 777 CA whom is so involved in our union message board yet ALWAYS finds himself on the wrong side of the discussion.
Selfish is the only word I can use to describe Sliceback.
A 900 sen # CA should know better.
