How did this tie thing get started at Atlas? I have 9 type ratings at 4 different airlines and have never worn or seen anyone wear one for a type ride, until here.
Obviously it is an antiquated culture thing, judging from ID pictures, the no tie break occurred about 8 or 9 years ago.

OK, online assessment = Passed! The test gouge on this thread, even from years ago, is spot on. Some of the questions are tough but overall the test is straight forward.
After rooting around quite a bit on this thread I can't seem to find any current info on what is asked during the phone interview. Clearly timing of the call can vary widely, but very little has recently been discussed regarding its content.
Anyone here been through the process lately?

Bring a speaker for music in your room. Swimsuits for Miami Beach. A wakeboard for the Ronix wake park in Ft Lauderdale. Set up an Uber account for taxis when you don't want to drive to a bar. Get some wall stick for putting posters of the cockpit on the walls. Plenty of highlighters and pencils. There is an Office max nearby. Bottle or 2 of Jack Daniels to get started. Rosetta Stone Spanish. A sense of humor. A tie for the oral and type ride.
I'm packing to leave Sat morning for Miami, driving so I'll be able to bring more stuff. (like cheap food)
Is there anything I'll be wishing I had next week that I should consider bringing along? Any idea if the new hotel's wifi/TV will allow a Kindle FireTV stick to work? Has anyone found a decent laundry nearby since there's not one in the hotel?
I know I'll do just fine no matter the conditions. I'm trying to avoid buying something in MIA that I could have brought from home, like an air compressor or a chainsaw .
Thanks to all who've been so helpful over the 2+ years I've been applying and asking dumb questions. I'm looking forward to that 7am shuttle Monday!

And, FWIW, I'd drive to the TC instead of the van.
FYI:
A new system wide base bid was published on 2/15:
- 36 new hire positions open for the 744 in ANC (and another 36 kicks in the nuts for the senior 76 FO's waiting for a 747 slot)
- 18 new hires for the 767 in CVG
And a new system wide seniority list was published on 1/30:
- A total of 1031 crew members on the seniority list
Interestingly, the last seniority list published on 12/31 had a total of 1023 pilots for a net gain of 8.
There were 22 pilots hired in that time and there were 2 pilots who retired.
Consequently, there were 12 pilots who left for greener pastures just in the month of January.
Take that information for what it's worth ...
