Remember under Atlas logic if you were to get a Hong Kong out base, the last place you'll go is Hong Kong.

I wish there was a BIG "like" button for this. So true for every out base.

Can anyone explain this from the CBA?
"Gateway Travel by air shall be coach class and shall be booked on a carrier of the Company’s choosing. Further, Gateway Travel may be provided on Company aircraft. Nothing herein shall preclude the Company from providing Gateway Travel via other than air transportation."
BL if I'm gatewaying from a small airport in Easter NC, OAJ to ANC can I expect a confirmed ticket all the way to ANC? Or will they potentially get me to another location to link up with a company aircraft IOT get to ANC? Also I thought it was business class or better....not coach?

Does anyone know what the net pilot gain has been over the last few years of hiring? Or, of the 84 pilots hired, as referenced above, how many pilots left during that period?

Just curious to see how much more Atlas can hire at the current rate.

those are openings...not new hires....looks to be about 60 pilots total gained over the past year or so.... I am sure a "giant" will come along and get it totally accurate.

Business class or better is for international flights that are part of the pattern. (And also for duty days over 16 hours.)

Gateway is coach, with a few rare exceptions that will only confuse this conversation.

In your scenario they might commercial you to CVG or ORD and put you on a company airplane to ANC, which most of us would prefer since the back seats in a 74 are way better than 22B in a 737. In any case getting you to ANC is their problem, not yours. No one at Atlas is jumpseating to a crashpad.

Well, Atlas differentiates Gateway Travel and Deadhead. Gateway Travel is from your gateway airport (the one near your residence) to your base, and it'll be in coach (unless you can upgrade yourself with elite status, etc.). So yes, they'll buy you a ticket from OAJ to ANC, and it may be imputed (i.e., the cost of your ticket will be taxable as part of your earnings).

Now, if you CAN get the company to buy you a ticket to, say, CVG to pick up a company flight to ANC from there, that's a great deal for you. You won't be hit by imputed income in that case, since CVG isn't your base.

P.S.: Our "business class or better" clause is for international Deadhead (travel while on duty during your trip), or domestic if the total patterned duty day exceeds 16 hours. Everything else is in coach.

...and 742Dash beat me by a whole minute.

There were 997 pilots on a seniority list from 02/15/12 at Atlas.

There are 1104 now. Sooo, that's a net gain of 107 pilots in 38 months or 2.8 a month.

I'll leave it to someone else to figure out how many new hires, retirements, and "other" departures there were in that time period.

How long are new ANC 747 FOs remaining on reserve? And does anyone know how is it breaking down between R1 (home), R2(hotel), and R3(airport)? Are FOs spending 17 days is hotels on reserve? Thanks.
