For W2/pay purposes for the years you're locked while a guy junior to you is making more money, YES, it DOES MATTER.

Yup! Given the choice, any newhire should bid the 747. The harm to your W2 for both years 2 and 3 is roughly $40,000 total.

I would say it depends on where you live and the life style you're looking for. It's not like every 767 guy is bidding over to the 747 the day their seatlock is released.

So true! I am one who has NO desire to move to the whale only to come back to the 767 as a captain in a few years. I live in base and have been away from home just 29 days since mid-December. Go to the 74 and be gone 17/month? No thanks, not even for 20% more pay.

True, but for those who don't live in the junior 767 base, the 747 is really a no-brainer. The guys staying on the 767 after their locks are up are currently very senior in CVG and JFK, but there's no benefit for a new-hire to choose the 767 unless they live in CVG.

They are starting to fill the 20 July 747 class. Got my phone call yesterday. From what I was told 21 in the class plenty of more calls going out. Best of luck to everyone else that interviewed and was placed in the pool can't wait to see you guys again! Excited!
