The threat didn't just "pass". The threat was eliminated by the union. Now we are working on eliminating the huge downside that is arbitration. I am sure you are quick to point out we always lose arbitrations yet you want us to move quickly for an arbitrator to decide our future CBA. How do you think an arbitrated CBA would work out for us?
Next time daddy management tells you they want to pay you more, if you happen to find some guts, ask them to put it in writing and give it to us. The fact of the matter is they have no intention of doing anything but suppressing our CBA as much as they possibly can. That is the fact of our situation. That is what you signed up for and that is what you will keep until you fly your last flight before retirement if left up to the boys in Purchase.

That condescending and unprofessional attitude is exactly what people are talking about. Keep it coming though, you’re making my point. The APU drive might fail, but we certainly will never recover the pay that’s been lost due to your losing strategy. It might just put the company out of business. We have squandered the greatest economic and negotiating climate of our lives. If you all had just followed the contract we would be starting negotiations again right about now. Either way, your group will be going the way of the Dodo after this is sorted out like it could have been 3+ years ago.
Put the company out of business? That's a pretty uneducated way of viewing things. Management clearly has you brainwashed. Sad really. How many of these company agents are left on the seniority list? I thought they all retired. In any event I hope our union continues on the same path they're on. We're in the fight of our lives. Lead, follow or get out of the way.

It isn't really odd but thankfully the sentiment is becoming less and less common everyday as the management sympathizers like yourself are educated on their self-worth or they retire.

None of this mess gets us anywhere. Biquering leads to hot heads and more digging in of heels. We all lose credibility with this stuff too.
On a side note, please file ASAPs and get relevant FC(I)Rs on file. ASAPs in particular are free and low-risk (unless we're talking about willful disregard). You're not going to foul-up your friends with ASAPs since their window to file opens when they learn of a problem.

Sooooo, the hiring of P. Douglas McKeen (by the company?) for the intent of negotiations - Will this help or hurt?

I think he negotiated the ASTAR contract just before they parked 80 percent of the fleet, but I could be wrong.

He also seemed to have input at US Airways, Northwest, America West and the latest coming from United. Notably, some of the aforementioned aren’t around any more or in a different capacity if you will.
Any other good info regarding contract good, bad, basic negotiating practices. United is still going strong, but who knows what intensity he had there? I obviously do not. Any United folks in the know?
