74 is definitely the most diverse platform we have and leaps and bounds beyond any other outfit. Legs, types, usage rates, customers and sheer numbers will gather no moss, always rolling. A few cookie cutter runs/patterns/regions served depending upon base but for the most part Giant, Qantas, Polar/DHL, AMC, LCF, Charters, Purple, Brown, etc., it does make for an interesting animal. I get bored easily so destinations/locations do not disappoint. Once again, sometimes basing does stovepipe you a bit.

My next 2 months the longest scheduled block on is 8 days. Subject to change obviously.

The augmented rest rules mean you often get a good chunk of time off every time you touch your domicile, and they will buy you a ticket home if it's more than 48 hours. If you commute to ANC from SEA for example, it can mean a few extra days at home per month.

?????? You have a 60 day pattern broken up into 5 blocks? That would be the only way to get to 34 work days at 8 or less a pop. I have never seen a line like that.

And there seems to be a lot of overselling people on this greater than 48 hours in base due to heavy rest. I have had that exactly 1 time in 9 years. Scheduling is very aware of it and will usually change the pattern to avoid those layovers in base. I was just extended out to 20 days involuntarily on my last mid pattern block of 17 days on a two month line. That is much more what people should expect if they decide to come here.

I've had it twice in a month now. 56 hours and 60 hours in ANC.

Like i said, my schedule is subject to change. Excited to see how it turns out.

Is the extension to 20 days unique to a certain type? What type are you flying? And if you get pushed to 20 days, how many days off would follow?

Not unique to any airframe. For protection of the operation the company at their discretion can extend you up to 3 days. This does not extend your days off.

I agree with the overselling part of going home during Augmented rest, but I will say if you are at any other base other than ANC you are correct. However, it’s hard for scheduling to keep ANC crews from touching ANC on the type of flying ANC do. So yes, that is a limited benefit for those who live in ANC and the Pacific Northwest like Seattle.

Default Gateway travel

With gateway travel does it really matter what base you are in anymore besides the obvious when you want to live in base? I mean in the regionals you commute standby so basing is a big deal and there is a.ways the panic about getting on board etc however at Atlas it seems with a positive space seat and hotel taken care off it does not matter anymore unless there is something I am missing.

Remember that Gateway is on your days off. Yes, much less stressful than begging for a ride. But Atlas will want you in base with time to get rest before the official start time of your line. If you live in SEA going to ANC for an evening departure you might be able to go up that morning. If you live in BNA it’ll take all of the previous day to get up there.
