Things need to change here big time; I'm confident they will.
DC8...sorry for the late response...but the beaches in Waikiki were a higher priority for the last week or so!!

The issue that I have with the current discussions on the line, on our private forum, etc is that this CBA made no improvements.

That is simply not true...

1. Former Polar pilots got significant hourly rate increases,
2. Former Atlas pilots got some work-rule improvements,
3. And other improvements for both groups.

All during a process that was actually supposed to be the merging on two CBAs that were in place at the individual carriers.

Some of our junior folks (lovingly referred to as NKOTB!!) refuse to accept that the last Negotiating Committee was able to make progress (such as it is admittedly) during a process that was NOT a "Section 6" negotiation...sorry, but that is a fact. I am not gonna get into that discussion here...some of you have my personal contact info and can reach out to me for a more meaningful (and private) discussion.

Glad you made it out of Hawaii before things went downhill! I agree with what you are saying here, that is a fact. However, everyone's personal perspective is different, and that's normal. That's one reason we hear different takes on all of this. The big thing to remember is no matter what, this needs improvement and we have to be ready to fight for it.

On the grass is greener subject: A poster on a thread about leaving FedEx for the majors was at a job fair lately. UAL/AA/DAL all had lines over 1.5 hours of pilots wanting to talk to the recruiters. FedEx and UPS had no lines at all.

Might be because the 3 legacies listed are all taking resumes and FedEx/UPS aren't? I'm not sure but that was the case a year or so ago.

No argument there, SVA402. It is the fight that some in our group have lost, whether it is Stockholm Syndrome or not. But I am confident that those very guys will make the right choice when the time comes...if they don't, remember, it only takes one pilot (it doesn't have to be the weak-kneed guy, it can be you or me!!) to say no.

HR recommends updating every 3-6 months FYI. Naturally knowing someone on the inside, especially if they have known you for a while or have even flown with you is beneficial. And the ever important face time gained by chasing Atlas to whatever Conference or Job Fair they decide to attend, usually at the last minute too.

But no one really knows the true winning formula, they keep employees guessing as much as anyone. The only sure thing anyone can tell you is just don't give up.

Good luck and pay it forward if you gain any valuable information that could help someone else.

For those about to interview, a recommendation made from the Atlas hiring committee:

"Pilot candidates should prepare for the technical portion of the interview by studying the ATP written exam, brush up on your Jepps, runway signs and markings, and WX."

I would also add performance, as I interviewed a few weeks ago.

Oh you did huh... you know, we are currently collecting any pay-it-forward documentations of interview experiences if you (or anyone else) so desire to provide

You can wish to do it publicly but understandably be somewhat veig on your descriptions (don't use names) as these threads are shared by all, or, you can do it privately with a PM (me) for a more detailed description however you will need to build up your post arsenal to 10 I believe.

Those after you that desire employment here will be grateful!
