Atlas Air Hiring
#9181
I just flew with a guy today who lives in Dubai. Others I've flown with live in Tel Aviv, Sydney, Costa Rica, Paris.... If you like it there you might be able to stay.

It seemed to be something they may like, considering the flying you may have been doing. International, flexible, heavy, minimal support, etc.

Thanks for the speedy replies! I am forming an exit strategy, one of my worries is mainly regarding the paperwork the next place will want. I doubt my airline here is going to provide much more than a stamped logbook and a letter that I worked here for 3 years.
Atlas always looked like a great time to me, and after the international flying here it would be hard to go back to the grind of what I was doing before.
So guys are living overseas? I tried to read most of this thread and did not notice that before, is it an off the record kind of thing?? Maybe the beach hut in Thailand or Okinawa isn't so far fetched after all

Pilots do live in different places (countries). Outside of the occasional towel that may be thrown in the ring by scheduling or travel you are responsible for being in your gateway city.
With that being said, if your gateway is further ($$$) than where you plan to live it should be easy. Guys do it. It's possible and they like it but I have heard of a few horror stories out there.
Bottom line is that you are responsible for getting into position from your gateway or fiscal equivalent.

Shibuya - Atlas will consider your foreign experience a big plus. That said, they are also looking for pilots that will be a positive addition to a crew on a 12 hour + flight. Most of those who post here are already onboard with the team player concept, so you probably have a leg up there as well.
Good luck.

No, the gateway basing program allows you to live anywhere in the United States. So living in florida they would travel you to ANC if you were based there. But if you lived in Japan you would have to get to ANC on your own, or another airport on our list of gateway airports (essentially any decent sized airports in the US), on your own and then they would travel you from there.

I'd plan on CVG, most likely, not ANC. Read back a ways to get spun up on Gateway travel. From Florida, plan on losing two off days getting to ANC, and one going home. Problem is, lots of lines have multiple trips in a single 30- or 60-day bid. You may lose a lot of off time in transit. CVG would be a lot less painful in that regard.
