I was arrested for DUI about 7 years ago, but later the case was dismissed. The arrest still shows up on my FBI file, so it will be something that is uncovered during a background. I don't have to admit to any convictions or driver/pilot license issues, but when they ask if there is anything else that I would like to add, I bring it up then. It will be found during a background, and I'm not the type to cover it up anyway.
Honesty is the best policy. If the first airline I tell chooses not to hire me for it, I will continue to apply until one does. I'll fly boxes in lower Alabama if necessary.....

Yes, it is in the records at the FBI (as is everything, forever) but cannot and will not be disclosed except to other law enforcement officers.
Police often arrest people improperly or charge them incorrectly. You are only obliged to report what you have been CONVICTED of, not ACCUSED of. That is the entire premise of our legal system!

The only thing that would hurt him would be a reckless driving attached, or of course, alcohol. His Insurance, though, is about to double or triple, so he needs to get this taken care of.
I rear-ended a car that cut me off, other driver was injured...listed as my fault (you can't prove someone cut you off), never questioned in an interview or the interview for my Gov't security clearance for that matter. S-happens out there on the road, everyone knows that.

"Get an attorney, and file suit against them for everything they have."
Wont help, especially if it is in TN. My wife got in a crash where she got t-boned by someone passing in a no passing zone. Cop wrote her the ticket, totally screwed up the police report...the wrong person driving the other car, wrong airbag deploying, DID NOT PUT DOWN A WITNESS STATEMENT OR CONTACT, didn't even write them a ticket for not having insurance etc. I even took pictures. The dumass judge without a brain of his own threw out the case and told us, "even if someone is driving the wrong way down a 1 way street at night with no lights on and you pull out in front of them and get hit YOU are responsible" What an ass.

Thank you for your honesty and I’m sure it will benefit others. I to have made the mistake of driving impaired, the only difference between you and I is that I was fortunate enough to make it through my years of ignorance & stupidity unscathed. For the better part of the last decade I have had no problems calling my wife or a cab seeing that I am fearful of just how fragile our careers are and that I can not and will not take another’s innocent life.
I am fortunate and I count my blessing everyday for my clean record. Sorry that you where one of the unfortunate but the fact remains that you and I both, as well as most others, deserve what you got and it’s good that we crack down on those drive under the influence. Many have died and many more will due to the stupidity of others.
For those who have lost loved ones because of drunk drivers I am sorry and I feel you pain. Nothing can ever replace the void in your life.
We must all educate and be educated.

You make good points, I too feel very fortunate that i didnt hurt anyone or myself. It was only 3 beers, but it was over the limit. My focus of this thread is to say that you CAN change and all is not lost and although its going to be a lot harder for me and others to get hired at a legacy, I am not going to give up.

A car accident, even if he's at fault, won't hurt him 1/10 of 1%. The kid is having a rough day and you're going to scare him like that?

I think i have no way to remove that ticket from me... I just called a lawyer who advertises himself on the phone guide... he pretty much said im screwed up if there are no witnesses...
i feel so alone in the world right now... over 2 years working overtime in Dominos to pay for school and my efficiency... damn i wish i could have rich parents so i didn't have to be risking myself that much on the street every day...Guys im sorry if i sound too dramatic im just trying to drain all this pain/frustration... thank you so much for listening and for your feedback!

I thank the origional poster for his coming forward and stating that he was indeed able to be successful as a pilot even with this on his record, it really helps me believe I will be able to do the same.
MCLEACH71, I'm going to send you a PM, I'd like to hear about your interview experiences if you are getting ready to start since our situation is very close to being identical.
PS... to the poster that said you did not have to disclose an arrest, I think I'd rather disclose it rather than not tell them, get hired and later get fired from a 121 job and have that on my pilot record... that would make life pretty much impossible...
