I can’t even begin to imagine the misery of doing double crew China flying on a 767. “Fun”

"In November [Maersk] engaged Wilmington, Ohio-based Air Transport Services Group (NASDAQ: ATSG) to provide and operate three 767-300 freighters under a long-term lease. An ATSG subsidiary is expected to begin carrying out dedicated transport for Maersk on key U.S.-China routes in the second half of this year."

I haven't heard anything about which carrier will be operating these tails; sounds like some fun work if ABX can get them.
I think it would be pretty slick to operate Asia routes, personally.

I don't think the 767 has the endurance to reliably do anything requiring a double crew (i.e. > 12 hours), and I don't know that Maersk would want to give up the space necessary to add a class 1 rest facility as required by our CBA if it does. I'd bet that it would be done by going through Anchorage. Anchorage - Shanghai clocks in at around 9 hours, so it could be done with a three-pilot crew just as we're currently doing with our European flying. And maybe Maersk has other ideas involving mid-Pacific hops.

And overnight in Shanghai? That ain't gonna happen, at least not in 2022, unless your company really, really hates you.

You’re not gonna overnight. I know a couple companies do manage to overnight in a few select locations in China, but believe me you don’t want that. It’s currently done by doing anchorage-incheon. Then Incheon - china stop - anchorage. You’ll have the fuel to do it….but the china stops can turn a 3 hr scheduled turn time into 8 with frequency. Maybe that delay puts you right into the airport closure window and you sit a few more hours. Usually scheduled around 12 hrs block and 18ish duty. If you get stuck like that in China the company will ask if you’d like to extend your duty day beyond CBA limits. And what option do you have? Don’t know how those logistics could work for you.

Lol ok…. Your China runs will require Double crew unless you are doing ICN-PVG/China-ICN turns before jetting to Anchorage or overnight in China. Otherwise you are looking at 17 hour duty days on your best days.
