Update at ABX.
2 of 6 Aircraft operating for AMZ are retired, remaining 4 will be gone by end of 2024. Loss of block hours (lines), no replacement aircraft announced.
Reducing Atlantic flying (oversea destinations) to once per week. Loss of block hours (lines)
Airframes previous used for overseas will operate hub to ORD and BOS for now
Hiring FO to replace those who have left for other pastures, mostly majors (DAL, AA, etc.), although some to other ACMI.
No upgrades in sight, after settling down from loss of lines/block hours there may be the occasional backfill for a captain departure or retirement.
Seriously consider your options if searching for FO positions, many other ACMI operators offer some version of a future, even those in negotiations (use caution with these as well..).
Advise and comments are worth what you paid for them .

Knock it off.
1. Nobody should be surprised by the retirement of the -200s.
2. Nobody should be surprised that DHL is going back to the status quo ante Covid.
3. Hiring is not just for attrition. This is a company that, until relatively recently, has been perpetually understaffed. We are ridiculously overstaffed at the moment, and there are three classes scheduled in June and July. The last time we started hiring for no apparent reason, it preceded the arrival of more aircraft several months later. The sudden push to get everybody LDS qualified should be a really strong hint as well.
4. This is ACMI. Flying comes and flying goes. It's the nature of the business. If it's too stomach-churning for you, you should probably find a line of work that is more to your liking.

No one is surprised of the -200 retirements (from AMZ), nor should you be surprised that ABX will most likely be out of the AMZ system at the end of 2024 (unless there is some change..)
DHL is still operating Atlantic flights, just not as many (belly freight) and no longer with ABX overall (even ABX states they are moving to DHL owned operator). Listen to DHL Americas CEO on Bloomberg
Hiring not for attrition...that is the largest BS statement you could have possibly made! The model of short-staffing has been here 4ever with no change of that in sight. Ask management why the LDS training if you are so inquired, or even better ask Exco...I can save a moment. It's part of a grievance, plain and simple, all are required to be trained equally (including a/c differences). Next mth bid back will have 40+ LDS events again as well.
If you believe we are getting Atlas birds and the company is preemptively hiring, training, etc. prior to their arrival....you haven't been here long enough to know much of anything. We struggled (in all depts), and that's an understatement, to put on the last 4 CK birds. Of course they can do it again (add new a/c), just taxes limited resources and we fail timeliness. For now, it's all a pipe dream until there is some announcement.
Lastly of course ACMI comes/goes. By scale it affects the smallest carriers with drastic swings. Present course, by end of 2024 ABX will be down the 6 aircraft we gained over the last few years (2 DHL, 4 CK offset loss of 6 -200 AMZs)....all while ATI looses their 6 -200 and still gets 3 additional -300s this year (they will operate somewhere around 45+ frames with AMZ and combi).

You want me to believe that the company responded immediately and proactively to a grievance that had barely crossed the chief pilot's desk when the May bid pack was being compiled, and which will almost certainly be denied at step 1, not proceeding to arbitration for at least another month (if at all) where it would again almost certainly be decided in the company's favor? Really? Call me dubious.

Dubious and other,
Do yourself a favor and ask/research before you speak. Call CP Audio/Visual guy and RR from the Exco for your answer; your choice either company guy or your elected pilot rep....if you're not willing to do either; no one can help you.

Good advice for anyone, really. More people should do that more often.
Who is the chief pilot's audio/visual guy, and how does he figure into this? Heck, who even knew he had an a/v guy?
