I don't know how many new hires we could move to the Left seat in either place? Standing up either place WILL require current FDX pilots to man the planes.

You don't think that there are a plethora of qualified Capt's at other places who would come to FDX in a Minute? There are many qualified 757 Capts at UAL USAir and NWA just to name a few as well as many US expats already living in ASIA and Europe flying for Emirates, CAthy EVA, Korean etc.
You really don't think some of those guys would Jump ship to take a Direct Hire CAPT slot at FedEx (or even Direct WB FO) if it was offered? Are you friggin kiddin me? Have you ever worked at a Sub tier Carrier?

I think you are kidding yourself. There are still tons of furloughed 757 f/o's out there that could be hired as 757 Capt's overnight. The company could even offer extra FOM classes in CDG while they are on Reserve. It would be EASY!

While I'm sure there are some "sub" tier captains out there that would love to leave Atlas, Evergreen, Gemini, or other foreign airlines, I think you are over estimating how many would jump at a chance to move to FDX on narrow body pay. Not to mention must live in CDG with no COLA, oh and all those Capts will know that they will be overseas for at least 7 years before they could bid back to the states in a Capt seat. Oh yeah let's add another 5 years of stagnation for the over 60 transition. It would mean a pay cut for many of the 747 captains at those "sub" tier carriers. Maybe HNK for widebody but the cost of living will offset the pay. Don't forget without a LOA the company can't pay them extra. Not a chance a capt from any of the US carriers would leave their jobs to start at the bottom. The majors know they are going to get a 30% pay raise over the next two years as contract become amenable.

While furloughed 757 F/Os would be more probable. I don't know how that would affect the company's insurance rates for overseas flying with their captains all having less than 3 years experience. Since that who is left furloughed. Remember UAL has already been through their list of furloughs and is working their way up. DAL is hiring off the street. CAL is hiring off the street. NWA should have recalled all by the late fall. AMR will be done with recalls in the spring. That only leaves US Air guys on the street and we've hired a bunch.

My point is that I don't think the company has a great many upside options if the LOA is voted down. Of course thanks to the iron clad scope section, the company could always just hire Chinese pilot to fly our jets.

I rarely agree with MaydayMark, but are you high? As Mark said, we could fill both bases with newhires and junior guys who would jump at the chance for a left seat, LOA or not.

Why don't we simply ask if there are any UAL, NWA USAir ATLAS or Gemini , EVA or Korean capts on this forum who would take a direct entry 757 CAP @ $167/hr year 1 position in CDG or a A300 CAP @ $195/hr Position in HKG and a FedEx seniority Number.

Gents? This is purely hypothetical and Unlikely (although entirely possible)but in the event Fedex Pilots turn down any forth coming LOA Would any of you consider this if it was offered to you?
The current Package is a Minimum 3 year Stint with and a $15,000-$20,000 cash bonus to start 757 Cap year 1 would pay Approx 145k , A300 Cap year 1 would pay approx 172K. You will have to live in Europe or in ASIA. Commuting is possible but would be rough and not recommended.

Back to the thread start (not that the LOA discussion isn't interesting). Any LEC's started recall efforts on their reps??? Don't be bashful. If you're not happy with the way this union is being run it's up to us to change it. We're supposed to tell the LEC/MEC what WE want and they then direct the Officers to make it happen. Too bad our union is currently being run backwards via DW on down to us. It's time we take the union back. I hope we aren't just satisfied with griping on this forum.

Hey! I've got an idea...Why don't we stop negotiating for the company on this forum? Do you really think you're doing anything constructive with all this?

I say once the LOA comes out...Then, the gloves come off.

Do you really think there is any negotiating going on?

Would negotiate if you were the Company?
