Practice bid

Old Heads -
Yeah, yeah, I know practice bids are worthless....
BUT, riddle me this Batmen:
Are the # of secondary vacancies shown on the "practice bids" something that is well correlated to the number that will actually be shown/filled on the actual bids?
...are the # of secondary vacancies controlled contractually, if in fact they are created by those awarded primary bids?
...or is it something that management can just decide to fill, or not fill, after they see the primary bid results?

When the real bid occurs and the 30 plus SFS guys don't bid HKG (for example) and bid into other domiciles they will need LESS secondaries in those seats. If they leave holes in the FDA's they will just have to hire. The real unknown is what the SFS guys do, regarding secondaries.
The Company uses these secondary awards to balance the seats as needed based on moves into primary vacancies. Confused yet

Where's the 68% that thought this was a good deal?!? C'mon guys, get on over there and support your actions!
11 HKG FOs! Ha, this is perfect. CDG goes unfilled in the right seat! Even better.
Get ready for the STV nightmare. And remember, when you're sitting in HKG missing your kid's birthday, you asked for it.

Exactly, pretty pathetic if true after all the banter. And where are all the senior guys who the union swore were going to bid it? Hate being right about not being able to fill the right seat but, "I told you so."

How are guys who downbid "pay protected" ? I do not see anything in the CBA that allows them to pay these guys widebody pay to fly a narrowbody, in fact the current training MGT team specifically has a goal to NOT pay any passover the 727 Captains. Do you have any info that this is in fact true ? If so I think the Union should publicize any pay deals that are outside the CBA.

But it is just a practice Bid. They all might not bid it for real so lets wait and see before you jump all over them.

I just "heard" that the Instructors would be Wide body pay protected, if they came to the 757 as an instructor or LCA.
I'm with you, it doesn't sound kosher, but it doesn't surprise me.
